‫سروده شده است‪ .‬نمی‌توانم بگویم که این اشعار در ابتدا به فارسی س روده ش ده‌اند‬
‫و سپس به زبان انگلیسی ترجمه شده‌اند زیرا که شباهت آن‌ها ب ه هم تنه ا در خل ق‬
‫تصاویر نزدیک به هم در ذهن خواننده‌ی هر دو زبان است و بس‪.‬‬

‫هرگاه که به ترجم ه اش عارم فک ر می‌ک ردم ب ا خ ودم می‌گفتم ک دام م رجح اس ت‪،‬‬
‫صورت یا محت وا؟ ک دام ی ک را بای د در ترجم ه م دنظر داش ت؟ این س وال ح تی‬
‫رساله دکتری من را هم بی‌نصیب نگذاشت و سرانجام‪ ،‬تحقیق ب ر روی چگ ونگی‬
‫ترجمه استعاره موضوع رساله را رقم زد‪.‬‬

‫واحد ترجمه برای من در برگردان این اشعار تصاویر ذهنی‪ 1‬بوده است‪ .‬ب ه همین‬
‫دلی ل گ اه بی تی اض افه ش ده و گ اه مص رعی ح ذف ش ده اس ت‪ .‬ش عر فارس ی را‬
‫می‌خواندم و اجازه می‌دادم تصویری در ذهنم بس ازد؛ س پس هم ان تص ویر را در‬
‫زبان انگلیسی در قالب کلمات می‌ریختم و در انتها می‌دیدم ک ه آن‌ه ا ن یز خ ود هم‬
‫وزن دارند و هم قافیه!‬

“White Jasmine” is my collection of poems in Persian

and English. The poems were in Persian in the first
place, then I tried to write and create the same mental
image in English readers as well; but I don’t really
believe that they are the exact translation like what we
have in traditional fashion. I tried to put them into words
with rhyme and rhythm.
