What I Need To Know
Itik-Itik is a Philippines folk dance form created by imitating the “movements of a duck”
such as wading, flying, and short steps and splashing water on their backs like the ducks
do.
This module will allow you to know the steps of Itik-Itik dance, danced by Filipino,
therefore you are expected to
1. Execute the different skills involved in the dance (Itik-Itik) (PE6RD-IIIc-h-4)
1.1 Identifies the different steps and skills involved in the dance.
1.2 Observes safety precaution.
1.3 Executes the steps in the different skills (coordination, balance, focus) in

What’s New
Most Philippine dancers are originally
patterned after the European dances during the
time of the Spanish regime, some dancers have
evolved from an already known Philippine dance.
One such example is “itik-itik” one of the popular
dance in the Philippines. Philippine dance were
used to represent the Filipinos cultural roots and
way of life. Most of the dancers were after the
European dances during the Spanish times.
Movements of bodies and feet with the itik-itik
are one of the many cultural dances of the
Philippines. It is popular among the Visayan
settlers of the province of Surigao del Norte

Procedure of Itik-itik Dance Steps.

Entrance: stating with the right foot they execute 8 step ball-close, ball-close forward.
A step ball-close, ball-close is done by the right foot forward and raising the heel of the
foot by a slide of the right follows and the left foot is behind take a small step forward
on the ball of the right foot slide to the right closing the left foot behind again the trump
heads likely forward and as a straight hands the left arm makes two flap upward to
shoulder level as it flapping the wings were the right goes downward.

Figure 1: the partners face each other with the right foot leading they do two heel
close-ball close steps. Dancer one turns to the right to end up in front of the dancer two
facing the same direction they join hands. The hands of the dancer two are under the
hands of the partner, they repeat the heel close ball close step to the right and left.
Dancer two then turns to face the other side with backs to each other and hands under
skirt they do heel close-ball close steps.

the heel of the right then they take a small step with the right foot sideward to the left
across the left foot. They do everything alternating to left and right. The right arm is In
the reverse T-position, the back of the left hand is supporting the right elbow and the
right foot is crossing in front. When the left foot is in front the position of the arm are
reversed. Then take two steps, one step moving backward to their proper places. They
execute two walks steps to the right and left and arm are in the lateral position moving
sideward with their fingers flattering.

doing three steps ball-close, ball close steps going clockwise. Dancer one has her left
hand under her right elbow with the right twisting they turn and end with the arms bent
forward and the elbows at shoulder level with fist slightly close and near each other. The
inside foot is bent towards their partner with the head tilted to one side.
