A. Search for an affective assessment tool in the internet that will measure
each of the following:
1. Explain the data that you will gain from using affective assessment tools.
The assessment tools in the affective domain are those that are used to assess
attitudes, interests, motivations, and self-efficacy.They are easily adaptable to
most attitude measurement situations. They provide direct and reliable
assessment of attitudes when scales are well constructed. They lend themselves
well to item analysis procedures. Results are easily faked where individuals want
to present a false impression of their attitudes.
2.Explain how affective assessment can complement the cognitive assessments
that you use in class.
In different manner, If you want to cook delicious food use complete ingredient
and condiments and follow the right and proper procedure indicated on the recipe.
Like in learning , Know first the interest, motivation, inspiration and area of
comfortability of the learners before expecting a good result in cognitive skills.
Just for example,(assuming) Why there are many dropped students in College of
engineering at UNP? It because students are force to enroll in that course without
assessing first the students affectively. We must identify first interest, best
motivation, choice using affecting assessments like interviews us teachers will
know what will the best cognitive assessment tools will be used in their learning
process and except a good result from them.
2. Explain how affective domain influence student’s attitudes towards schooling.
The affective domain plays an undeniable role in education. The Maslowian
hierarchy of needs put self-actualization (creativity, problem-solving, ethical
reasoning etc) right on top of the peak, and rightfully so. If our more basic needs
are not met, there is no internal mechanism with which to realize our higher
potential. Emotional needs occupy the bridge between the basic physiological,
security-based needs, and those of self-esteem, achievement and self-
realization. This domain plays an undeniable roles in the process of total
development of a child. To me, I see this domain (affective) as the major domain
that direct learning, because, the emotional state, interest and wiliness of the
learner are very important in any process of teaching and learning. There is need
to shift focus to this domain and explore it in total. This domain has suffered great
neglect because of the difficulty encountered during evaluation which makes
people makes researchers focus only on the cognitive domain. There is need for
researchers to come together and agree on a standard way to evaluate this domain
that will be so easy just like the cognitive domain, so that we can improve our
education system.
