III. Rationale:
With the world's population predicted to grow by 2 billion people in the next 30 years,
many stakeholders have realized that just producing more healthy food in a more
sustainable manner will not secure human and planetary well-being. Other critical
issues must be addressed as well, such as the interconnections highlighted by the 2030
Agenda, such as poverty reduction, social inclusion, health care, biodiversity
conservation, and climate change mitigation. It has long been recognized that inclusive
support mechanisms are required to guarantee that young continue to magnify
communal and individual efforts to restore the earth and safeguard life, while also
incorporating biodiversity into the transformation of food systems. “Transforming Food
Systems” the topic of International Youth Day2021, emphasizes that the success of
such a worldwide effort will not be realized without the active participation of young
people.
IV. Objective:
This year's International Youth Day seeks to create a forum for young people to build on
the momentum from the EYF in the run-up to the high-level Food Systems Summit
through youth education, involvement, creativity, and entrepreneurial solutions.
