COURSE TITLE: Polygraphy

COURSE DESCRIPTION: The course focuses on the concepts of Polygraphy, Polygraph, A Lie Detector,
Polygraph Examination, Objectives of a Polygraph Examination, A Lie, Kinds of Lie, Types of Liars,
Theory of Lie Detection, Ordeal, Early Methods of Detecting Lies, Common Countries that practiced
Ordeal, Detecting Lies through: Observation methods; Regular Police Methods and the Historical
Development of Polygraphy.

The Timeline of the Modern Polygraph, Psychology and Theory of Polygraph Examination,
General Purpose of using Polygraph, Factors that affect the accuracy of the Polygraph results, Problem
encountered by Law Enforcement Officers during Investigation and Interrogation, Polygraph Instrument
and the major components, the examiner, the subject, examination room, the phases of Polygraph
examination, Test construction and procedures, Chart interpretation, Legal status of polygraph in which
enhances the Knowledge and Skills of Criminology Students in the continuous analysis of basic
approaches to complex scenarios that a future public officer should be aware of which is a Real time
condition and to integrate the pros and con before coming up an opinion, reaction and conclusion in
dealing with crime and criminals.

COURSE POLICIES:
1. CLASS PARTICIPATION: All students are strongly encouraged to ask questions during class
sessions. Students can also present their ideas on topic regardless of whether they are
consistent with those of the instructor or author of the textbook they are using. Students are
not free to talk or whisper with individual during class session. (ONLINE CLASSES)

2. MISSED EXAMS AND ASSIGNMENT: Students who will miss any major examination will be
given a chance to take the said examination after a week of the scheduled major examination
and will be required to present a special permit from the cashier’s office. For quizzes or
assignments taken online, if an error in the system or internet connectivity problems occurred
while taking the quiz or submission of the assignment, a re-scheduled time and date will be set
by the professor for the particular student.

3. ACADEMIC HONESTY: All students are to adhere to high standards of integrity in their
