Objectives: At the end of this module, the learner is expected to:
1. learn the methods of organizing an information;
2. distinguish between main ideas of a topic and supporting details;
3. understand topic outline and sentence outline; and
4. create a reading outline and writing outline.

 Wake up! It is a new day for new learning opportunities. Get ready for a fun yet
productive day ahead.

Note: Kindly use a separate sheet of paper or use the one provided by the school as the answer sheet for
all of the activities in this module. Any form of writing in the module is strictly prohibited.

Preliminaries/Introduction (What I Need to know)


 Before proceeding straight to the discussion, explain to the learner that it is
important that he/she has an idea on the learning outcomes expected at the end
of the module. This will make him/her have a goal in mind as he/she interacts
with and accomplishes the material.  
 Afterwards, let the learner read and understand the What I Need to Know part
on page 3.
Pre assessment (What I know)
 Let the learner answer the 15-item True or False Pre-test (What I Know) on pages
3 and 4.
Note: As stated in the instructions, ask the learner to write VACCINE if the statement
is true and VIRUS if it is false.
PROCEDURES
1. Review/Motivations (What’s In)
 Play the game TRUTH or DARE with the learner by asking him/her to answer the
given questions on page 5. For every correct answer, you may give a reward.
However, for every wrong answer, the learner has to choose between TRUTH
(answering any question from you about anything under the sun) or DARE (such
as doing any of the household chores). The Answer Key for this part is on page 25.
2. Initial Activity/Discovery (What’s New)
 To effectively introduce the next lesson, ask the learner to complete the given
outline of grocery items needed at home on page 6.
3. Discussion of the Topic (What is it)
Provide enough time for the learner to read and study Outline, Reading and Writing
Outlines, Steps in Writing an Outline, Two Systems of Outlining, and Formal,
Informal, Topic, and Sentence Outlines on pages 7 to 12. Definitions and examples
of the varied types of outlines are present in this portion to help the learner grasp
the topics better.
4. Enrichment Activities (What’s More)
 Let the students answer the activities on page 7-12.
Independent Activity 1: Ask the learner to answer the 5-item Matching Type
activity about orders and purposes on page 13. Only the letters of the correct
answers shall be written on the answer sheet.
Independent Assessment 1: Let the learner explain the concepts that he/she has
learned by answering the given questions on pages 13 to 14.
Independent Activity 2: Ask the learner to categorize the items listed on the word
bank on page 14. The categories to be used are also placed in the given word
bank.
Independent Assessment 2: Using the words and phrases in the box on page 15,
instruct the learner to write an outline. Use the sample format on page 16 as
reference.
Independent Activity 3: Ask the learner to write a topic outline about
himself/herself by following the 5-paragraph essay arrangement in the example
given on page 11 (example of topic outline). Refer to the given rubrics on page
17.
Independent Assessment 3: As explained on page 18, ask the learner to create a
sentence outline by arranging the statements taken from the short text titled
“The Spanish Legacy” by Bonifacio Sibayan on page 19. As for the conclusion,
the learner is tasked to write his/her own. Use the format given on page 20.
5. Generalization (What I Have Learned)
 Allow the learner to explain the importance of outlining as stated on page 21
6. Application (What I Can Do)
 Ask the learner to write a sentence outline about how outlining helps him/her in
his/her everyday life using a 3-part paragraph essay arrangement. Refer to the
given pattern and rubrics on page 21.
7. Assessment (Post assessment)
 In this part, evaluate the student’s level of mastery by asking him/her to answer
the 15-item multiple choice on Google Form.
8. Additional Activity
 After watching a news program, ask the learner to write an informal outline about
the important details reported. Refer to the given rubrics on page 24.

MODE OF DELIVERY
Modular: The parent/guardian/authorized representative shall personally submit the printed module
and activity sheets in the respective LGUs. A proof of identity shall be presented upon the
submission/claim of the materials.
Online Distance Learning: The learner can send outputs to the Google Classroom account provided by
the teacher or to any other platform recommended by the school.
