WEEKLY HOME LEARNING PLAN- GRADE 11

Learning Area: General Mathematics Weeks: 1(part 1)

Date Covered: September 27-October 1, 2021 (8:30-10:30AM, Monday)
MELCs:
 represents real-life situations using functions, including piece-wise functions.
Objectives: At the end of this module, the learner is expected to:
1. recall the concepts of relations and functions;
2. define and explain functional relationship as a mathematical model of
situation; and
3. represent real-life situations using functions, including piece-wise function.
DAY AND
TIME
LEARNING TASKS
 Wake up! It is a new day for new learning opportunities. Get ready for a fun yet
productive day ahead.

Note: Kindly use a separate sheet of paper or use the one provided by the school as the answer sheet for
all of the activities in this module. Any form of writing in the module is strictly prohibited.

Preliminaries/Introduction (What I Need to know)

 Before proceeding straight to the discussion, explain to the learner that it is
important that he/she has an idea on the learning outcomes expected at the end
of the module. This will make him/her have a goal in mind as he/she interacts
with and accomplishes the material.
 Afterwards, let the learner read and understand the What I Need to Know part
on page 1.
Pre assessment (What I know)
 On page 1-4, let the student answer the 15-item Multiple Choice Pre-test.
Instruct him/her to write only the letter that corresponds to his/her answer for
each item on the answer sheet.

PROCEDURES
1. Review/Motivations (What’s In)
 On page 5-7, let the student recall definition of relation and function, and how to
determine if the given relation is a function or not.

2. Initial Activity/Discovery (What’s New)

 On page 8-9, instruct the student to read some of the conversations given and
determine if they can be classified as function or not.

3. Discussion of the Topic (What is it)

 In this part, a discussion about functions as representations of real-life situations,
the function machine and piecewise function are provided. Let the student read
the lesson and study the examples on pages 9-12 to better understand the topic.

4. Enrichment Activities (What’s More)

 Let the students answer the activities on page 10-11.
Independent Practice 1: Problem solving involving functions
Independent Assessment 1: Problem solving involving functions
Independent Practice 2: Problem solving involving piecewise functions
Independent Assessment 2: Problem solving involving piecewise functions

5. Generalization (What I Have Learned)

 Instruct the student to answer the activities with the following instructions.
A. Read and analyze the following statements. If you think the statement suggests
an incorrect idea, rewrite it on the given space, otherwise leave it blank.
B. In three to five sentences, write the significance of function in showing real-life
situations.
C. In your own words, discuss when a piecewise function is being used.

6. Application (What I Can Do)

 At home or in your community, look for the at least three (3) situations that could
represent functions. From the identified situations, write a sample problem and
its corresponding function equation. (page 15)

7. Assessment (Post assessment)

 In this part, evaluate the student’s level of mastery by asking him/her to answer
the multiple-choice test on pages 16-17.

8. Additional Activity
 On page 18, instruct the student to read and analyze each situation carefully and
apply his/her learnings on representing real-life situations involving functions
including piecewise.

MODE OF DELIVERY
Modular: The parent/guardian/authorized representative shall personally submit the printed module
and activity sheets in the respective LGUs. A proof of identity shall be presented upon the
submission/claim of the materials.
Online Distance Learning: The learner can send outputs to the Google Classroom account provided by
the teacher or to any other platform recommended by the school.
