Social dances are generally intended for participation rather than performance and
can be led and followed with relative ease. They are classified into two groups, the
Latin American Dances and the Modern Standard Dances. On the other hand, social
dances are also performed in groups while periodically changing partners to maximize
the social dimensions of social dancing. Socializing can be developed if one engages in
dancing, singing, and acting can also improve if one performs social dances regularly.
The FNRI Food Pyramid can guide one as to what kinds of food to eat to maintain or
improve weight too. My favorite among the social dances is ballroom dance because is
freer in nature and are primarily intended to widen one’s social horizon, for
recreation. I believe that with my participation in social dancing, I will manage my weight
too. I believe that with my participation in social dancing will improve my fitness,
socialization and may eventually help me in influencing my friends to improve their
fitness too.

BOTTOM LINE
1. What do you think were the factors that hindered you from dancing or doing better at
it?
I would say that first it would be myself. Since I don’t really like to dance and I believe
it’s not for me I don’t do dancing good. It was my will that hinders me to do dancing
better. Hence whenever I try, I end up failing. Another factor are the people around
me. A lot of them tells me I not good at it so it adds up to the reason why I don’t dance.
2. How important is partnership, lead-and follow relationship, in social Dancing?
In partner dancing, dancers try to generate synchronized or complementary motions
by working together. The Lead is primarily in charge of initiating movement, while the
Follow's job is to keep it going, though they may choose not to.
3. Given the opportunity to participate in such activity regularly, how do you think can
social dancing contribute to the attainment of fitness and social well-being?
Dancing improves psychological and emotional well-being in addition to its physical
benefits. Dancing, as a weight-bearing exercise, appears to improve not only flexibility
and balance, but also aerobic power (and consequently cardiovascular health) and
lower body muscle endurance. It's also easier on the joints than other types of
workout.
4. Now that you have the knowledge and skills in social dancing, how do you think can
you influence others in your community to do the same?
I could influence people by showing the good benefit of social dance. Also, by teaching
them how to do it as well. I believe that making them aware how enjoyable social
dance it and its good result people in my community would be intrigue to do the same.
5. What do you think are the values or attitudes that you should possess in order to be
successful in social dancing? Explain your answer.

I believe that to successful do a social dance you have to attain 4 values. First is
dancing ability, knowing the right element in dancing will help you execute the right
steps. Second is social interaction, camaraderie of learning something valuable side-
by-side with peers is a key to the right relationship in doing social dance with a partner.
Third is having the healthy hobby, mixing qualities with the fun and excitement of
dance makes for the perfect healthy hobby that lasts for a lifetime. Finally, education
value, these values of dance also comes with learning discipline, responsibility, and
respect. And it is through these lasting values that nearly anything in life is possible.
