1. Purpose
The purpose of this method statement is to explain the proper procedure on how to do the
dewatering system without any safety violations within Project

2. scope
Dewatering wells will be installed along the perimeter outside the protection wall. The spacing and
number of wells will be determined after the pump out a test and submitted for approval of the
Engineer. It is proposed to install 200mmØ wells within 300mmØ boreholes. Electric submersible
pumps will be installed to deliver water via a 50mmØ delivery line to the surface. The water will be
collected at the surface in collection pits and discharged into the nearby lagoon.

Short, small diameter wells in discrete enclosed areas within the plot footprint may be necessary to lower
the water level further e.g., lift core area. Additionally, a system of gravel drains and sump pits may be
deployed on the working surface to handle seepage.

The electric system will be powered and distributed 24 hours through generators, cabling, and
distribution boards.

3. Work procedure

A. . Initial site preparation works preparation

Ensure that each well location is free of buried services; set out the location of the well; provide suitable,
clear, firm, and unobstructed drive-on access for wheeled vehicles with adequate headroom.

The hole for the well is made by rotary drilling, using a bit of a size required by the screen diameter and
thickness of the filter. Soil from the drilling is removed from the hole by the flow of water circulating from
the ground surface down the hole and back up the (hollow) drill stem from the bit. The drilling water is
circulated by a centrifugal or jet pump that pumps the flow from the drill stem into a sump pit. As the hole
is advanced, the soil particles settle out in the sump pit, and the muddy water flows back into the drill hole
through a ditch cut from the sump to the hole.

B. Installation of dewatering pipe

 The header pipe shall be connected to well points with sufficient depth to ensure that
lowering of the water table shall be carried out from a level not less than three meters
below the excavation bottom.
 Maintain extra pump inventory at the site, In case of breakdown may happen, it can be
replaced immediately and without interruption of dewatering.
 A filter media of chips P-type gravel 50mm thick shall be inserted around the depth of the
wells to act as a barrier against fines and prevent choking of well points.
 Operate the dewatering system continuously 24 hours a day/night until work site handover
to the subsequent contractor or until written by authorization to cease dewatering.
 Will connect all the header pipes to discharge pipe running overland to the approved
route.
 Dispose of the water removed to avoid endangering public health, environment, and
neighboring environment
