Christmas card

Step 1

Open the wood texture image in Photoshop.

Step 2

Darken the texture with the Levels adjustment:

Step 3

Insert fir branches around the edges of the canvas.

Step 4

Use the Eraser Tool (E) to erase the bottom of the


edge.

Step 5

Apply the following styles to the branches layer:

Create a Curves adjustment layer for the branches:

Step 7

Use the Pen Tool (P) to draw the base for the tree.

Step 8

Insert a Christmas ball and apply the shadow style:

Right click on the ball layer and select Convert to


Smart Object.

Step 10

Create many copies of the ball and fill them in the


shape of the tree.

Step 11

Paste the star into our document and place it on top of


the tree. Change the color to gold with the Hue /
Saturation adjustment.

Step 12

Add a Drop Shadow style to the star layer:

Convert the star to a smart object.

Step 14

Create many copies of the star, scale them down and


place them on the edges of the canvas.

Step 15

Create a new layer between the "Christmas ball" and


"Glitter Star" layers. Set the blending mode to
Overlay. Use a soft white brush to add a glow from the
tree.

Step 16

Open the image of the golden balls in Photoshop. Go


to the Edit? Define Pattern.

Go back to the main document and create a Pattern


fill layer:

Step 18

Convert the "Pattern Fill" layer to a Smart Object.

Add a mask and use a black brush to erase some of the


balls.

Step 20

Apply the Drop Shadow style to the garland layer:

Make the golden garlands brighter with a Hue /


Saturation adjustment.

Step 22

Insert the golden bell and hang it on the garland.

Step 23

Add a drop shadow style to the bell layer. Create


several copies of the bell and place in different places.

Step 24

Insert the icicles and position them at the top.

Step 25

Insert a snow texture and set it to the Eraser Tool


(E). Hide some of the snowflakes with a mask.

Step 26

Create a Gradient Map adjustment layer: #


000000 (location 0%), # b37006 (location 48%) and #
ffe012 (location 77%).

Finally, create a Levels adjustment layer to improve


the overall contrast.
