chosen to participate, the nature and the purpose of the research project have been explained to

Assalammualaikum w.b.t & greetings.

Thank you so much for allocating your time and availability for this interview session. We
are Muhammad Aminin bin Mohd Rizal, Muhammad Akmal bin Mohd Mastor, Nurhani binti
Khamis, Nur Fazlin binti Mohd Aziz and Ruqayyah bt. Khalid, Masters students enrolled at
the Faculty of Technical and Vocational Education (FPTV), Universiti Tun Hussein Onn
Malaysia. The purpose of our study is to explore the action and readiness of TVET institution
management level to suit with digital transformation. It is with honour that you are being
selected to be part of this research due to your role as the TVET management leader who is
leading researcher at Pusat Kecemerlangan Industri - Rel (ICOE-REL) in Institut
Kejuruteraan Integrasi. We are mostly interested in your experiences throughout the process
of leading and managing your department especially in action and readiness of digital
transformation management.

Today, Tuesday, 9.00a.m. at platform GoogleMeet I am going to start our first interview
session. The details and questions are similar as the documents I have sent via email. It is
with great pleasure before we start this session that I could respond to any questions that you
might have regarding the interview, or any inquiries related to the project. Please proceed if
you have any inquiries.

Before we start, could you kindly fill in the consent form. This form is to ensure that your
anonymity is preserved and that I will at the best of my ability secure any information
revealed in this session so that it will be used only as agreed in the consent form.
INTERVIEW PROTOCOL: EXPLORING THE NATURE OF ACTIVITY – TVET
INSTITUTION LEADER’S ACTION AND READINESS IN DIGITAL
TRANSFORMATION MANAGEMENT

1. How long have you been in management position?

2. Can you describe your relationship with your staff?

3. The technology in ICT enhance rapidly, this condition need proactive efficiency in
upskilling ICT literacy at work or institution. What action did you take when their digital
literacy is insufficient?

4. Social media is one of the facilitating elements in online management. It also allows you to
interact while maintaining social distance. How do you handle task management digitally in
executing your work?

5. How do you embrace technology to digitize operations and reshape workflow to current
demands?

6. Education technology has been improvised rapidly since then with IR 4.0. How do you use
digital application to improve process and workforce efficiency?

7. How do you know whether the digital transformation is working perfectly at your
organization?

8. In your opinion, how can you prepare your staff for digital transformation?

9. What are your hopes for future management in digital transformation efficiency?

You are being invited to participate in a research that explores the nature of activity-process approach
of internationalisation at Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM). This research is being
carried out by [Muhammad Aminin bin Mohd Rizal, Muhammad Akmal bin Mohd Mastor, Ruqayyah
binti Khalid , Nurhani binti Khamis, and Nur Fazlin binti Mohd Aziz.], who is undertaking subject
[Leadership and Management in TVET].

The research seeks an understanding of readiness and action within TVET leaders in digital
transformation. Before you decide to participate, it is important to understand why the research is
being done and what it will involve. Below is the essential information you may want to know. Please
take time to read the following carefully and please ask if you have any information that is unclear or
if you have any additional questions. Thank you.
What is the purpose of the project?
This research aims to explore the nature of activity-process approach of managing toward digital
transformation. To understand this, it investigates a complementary phenomenon; the TVET leaders.
The key concern is to establish the connection that these key actors are making in the process and any
areas of need that should be addressed in particular.
Who will be participating?
They are the TVET leaders in Pusat Kecemerlangan Industri - Rel (ICOE-REL).
Why have I being asked to volunteer?
You are being asked to volunteer due to several reasons:
 You are the personnel involves as TVET leadership.
 You are identified as the key person that well verse in the TVET leadership.
 You are known as being confident to express your views—based on personal recommendations or
achievements in any related activities.
Why do I have to take part?
Your participation in this study is entirely voluntary and you are of course free to accept or refuse to
participate. If you decide to take part, you will be asked to sign two copies of a consent form—one of
which the researcher will keep. If you refuse, there will be no penalty or loss of benefits to which you
are otherwise entitled. If you decide to take part but then decide to withdraw from the study at any
stage, this will not affect the status of the current study or in future. There will also no penalty
involved.
When I will be participating?
Initially, you will be contacted to participate in a one-to-one interview session with the researcher at a
place and time you prefer. The interview session will take about an hour and it will be audio-taped.
You will be asked about your experiences as the main researcher in leading Pusat Kecemerlangan
Industri - Rel (ICOE-REL). You will also be asked to respond to how the factors that impact your
leading Pusat Kecemerlangan Industri - Rel (ICOE-REL) being conducted and what will be your
suggestions for the institution for this matter. The interview will be transcribed later into text in a
Word document and will make it available for you to read the transcription, modify, add, change or
delete any information you have been given at any time.
How can I ensure that my details remain confidential?
Only you, the researcher and the researcher’s supervisor will be able to identify you. The researcher
will take every care to remove any identifying material (e.g. name, background etc). All records
containing personal information will remain confidential, and no information that leads to
identification will be released. While information gained might be published, your identity will not be
revealed; it will be replaced with a false name. All original data will be stored securely following the
Code of Ethics of the University in conducting the research. They will be kept confidential for a
period of five years and then destroyed. The original audio-taped data will be kept in password-
protected electronic files and as printed data in locked filing cabinets. You can access your data at any
time by contacting with the researcher.
What are the possible advantages and disadvantages if I choose to participate?
Advantage: There will be no direct advantage to you, but it is hoped that this research will highlight
your needs as the key person of internationalisation at the institution. You may also find it interesting
to discuss your experiences with the researcher.
Disadvantage: You may find it is time-consuming to provide time to be interviewed.
What will happen to the findings of the research?
The findings will be used in the researcher’s lesson of Master Project practice. You can obtain a
summary of the research findings from the researcher in 2022 by emailing to
ruqayyahk81@gmail.com.
