rience our individual and collective lives as social beings. S

The teacher will introduce the meaning of culture, society and politics and will give meaning o
of concept and or phenomena.Teacher will describe students as acting agents and social ci
actors. al
Human variation refers to the rich diversity in social practices that different cultures exhibit around the di
world. Cuisine and art all change from one culture to the next, but so do gender roles, economic ff
systems, and social hierarchy among any number of other humanly organised behaviours. Cultural
er
variation can be studied across cultures (for example, a cross-cultural study of ritual in Indonesia and
Brazil) e

are the differences and discriminations that occurs in the society. Many social differences are C
generally based on the accidents of birth. The differences between males and females, people having ro
different heights and complexion are all examples of social differences caused due to birth. However, ss
not all social differences are based on birth. Some people are atheists, some are God fearing. These c
differences are chosen by the people themselves. ut
Social Division: When socail differences become acute and one community is discriminated becasue ti
of the differences, it becomes social division. Under such circumstances, one community is n
discriminated. For example, social difference between the upper castes and lower castes becomes a g
social division as the dalits are generally poor and face unjustice and discrimination. h
Overlapping of social division happens when people of one out of two communities are not only a
discriminated but are also poor and they begin to feel as they belong to the differentPrepared
community.

ens when people are facing a same issue but have different opinions about the way to resolve it. In
cross cutting, discrimination often does not take place and problems could be solved peacefully.
Social Change is way human interactions and relationships transform cultural and social
institutions over time, having a profound impact of society.
