Madam:

I have the honor to submit an innovation proposal entitled “CLICS Ito: Basic Computer Literacy
in the Community and School” which cater to the need of continuing computer literacy for pupils and
basic literacy lessons for parents in a remote/interior community as an effective mechanism for the
advantageous utilization of scarce available resources in the school. Approval of this innovation would
mean this endeavor can be extended to the adjacent schools – Gregorio Cale Elementary School and
Calabasa Elementary School in Labo West including their respective communities.

Hoping for your favor and consideration.

Very truly yours,

MARIA DOLORES R. MILLARES

2. Development Issues – The Problem to be address by the activity
a) Background/Context Basic computer literacy is very important for everyone. This skill must be
taught to pupils in preparation for their secondary education and to parents so
they can relate to the needs of their children. This is a priority improvement
area in the school and community which is remote and access to computers
are very limited and scarce. The school has been a recipient of nineteen (19)
flatscreen desktop computers from DepEd Computerization Program and
such must be effectively utilized for the school including the community.
b) Main Issue Pupils in Grade IV to VI lack basic computer hands-on experience the school
and community being remote and interior. This is very important in their
preparation for junior high school and even in everyday life where ICT plays
a major role. This is also essential for the academic proficiency of pupils for
their attainment of holistic development.
c) Related Issues Grade IV to VI pupils are shy and not confident in joining EPP
Technolympics, especially about ICT because they lack hands-on experience
about it. They also cannot join Press Conferences where ICT know-how is
essential.
3. Development Interventions – The proposed solution to be supported by the activity
a) Proposed Solution  Basic computer literacy is becoming necessary for almost everyone and
lack of it is a main problem especially for pupils seeking
secondary/college education including their parents who do not have basic
understanding or experience on hands-on computer use.
 This basic computer literacy training for pupils and parents will be
implemented through alternate schedules for pupils in Grade IV to VI
after classes and for parents will be on Saturdays/Sundays. Interactive
exploration approach using lecture – demonstration and hands-on
experience will facilitate effective learning both to pupils and parents.

b) Project Sustainability The provision of nineteen (19) units of flatscreen desktop computers by
the DepEd Computerization Program makes the proposal sustainable and
feasible. Its lifespan of 3-5 years will guarantee the continuity of the
implementation and completion of the innovation.

The volunteer computer technicians, Brgy. Captian Rex M. Albos and Mr.
Dave L. Iligan will assure and maintain the excellent working conditions of
the computers.

The ICT room is furnished with appropriate tables and chairs, electrical
wiring, lighting and ventilation and secure double locks for its safety and
security.

Mr. Arnel C. Aloc, in-charge of documentation, will record all the

activities and proceedings of the innovations proposal including the best
practices it may have.

The possible best practices and how it will be replicated in other schools
with similar facilities will be:
a. Effective utilization of scarce resources in the school/ community
project or training proposals may be conceptualized and submitted for
approval for further and advantageous use of ICT equipment in the
school.
b. Available skilled human resources in the community can be
requested/tapped for voluntary assistance/consultancy.
c. The office of the school head became the ICT room for better
maintenance and security of the computers (the school head
transferred the office to the temporary feeding room) – the
maintenance and security of the computers are of primary preference
than the comfort and convenience of the school head because the
learning and skills to be gained by the pupils and parents are more
important.
4. Activity Concept
a) Objective By the end of April 2020, the Grade IV to VI pupils including their
parents will be equipped with basic computer literacy skills, by completing
the CLICS Program in Pampang Elementary School
b) Outputs Specific results from the innovation activity will be documents of pupils
and parents performing the hands-on operation of computers and printed
results of their activity sheets and performance tasks.
c) Outcomes The best outcome will be the solution to one of the Priority Improvement
Area for 2019-2020 which is the lack of ICT skills of Grade IV to VI pupils
as preparation for the next grade level. Likewise, the parents will also have
better understanding and awareness of ICT that will help them understand the
use of technology of pupils and also boost their confidence and self-esteem in
their newly-acquired skill.
d) Activities The Grades IV to VI pupils can assist their younger classmates in K to III
for the future innovation proposal of ICT Training for K to III pupils.

The Grade IV to VI pupils will possess the skills and confidence to

compete with other schools about ICT-based skills in EPP and Presscon.

The Grade VI pupils will have confidence when they enter Grade VII in
the use of ICT.

The pupils and parents of Pampang Elementary School, Brgy. Pangpang

Labo, Camarines Norte, even if in the remote area and with scarcity of
available resources, have availed of a basic ICT Training and equipped with a
basic ICT skills to help them adjust to an increasingly ICT environment in the
future.
