1.0 PURPOSE
The purpose of this Method Statement is to provide a proper and efficient sequence of
work for chipping, forms / box-out installation and concrete casting for the missing
openings on the ground floor slab at Zone-C of GIS Bldg. which are required to be
performed in a safely manner in accordance to the project specifications of Saudi
Aramco and other relevant industry code & standard.
2.0 SCOPE
Cutting and chipping of ground floor slab area (5110mm length x 500mm width x
25mm thk) as marked in attached IFC drawing (see Attachment #1) of GIS Bldg.
Cleaning of exposed reinforcements
Installation of box-out / forms for 8 Nos. openings
Application of concrete bonding agent
Concrete casting (32 MPA, Type I with micro silica)

Site Engineer- He shall be responsible for the direct work supervision at site

5.0 RESOURCES
The Contractor shall deploy an adequate number of resources as per requirement and
quantum of work in compliance to work schedule and resource histograms.
6.0 METHODOLOGY

Ensure that the Method Statement has been reviewed and approved by
COMPANY.
Review the related drawings and documents prior to marking the area of slab
which will be chipped.
Ensure that correct materials will be used for the activity.
Provide barricade and warning signs around the working area.
Conduct a safety tool box meeting together with all personnel which will be
involved in the execution of works.
If required to be used, scaffolding and platform assemblies shall be inspected by
authorized scaffolding inspector.
Obtain the appropriate work permits prior to commencement of works.
Working area to be checked by safety supervisor to ensure that safe conditions
and environment exist for the works.
6.2 WORK PROCEDURE

Surveyor Verify again the location of the each opening is located properly in
place prior to grouting.
Grouting shall be performed as performed as per the manufactures recommendation.
For Project Scope of Works, inspection of works shall be carried out as per the
provisions given in the SATIP and SAIC of the approved Quality Plan & Procedures.
The HSE shall perform a splendid role in all construction activities to ensure that all
the works are being carried out in a safe manner and creating a healthy environment
at the site. All activities shall be carried out safely in accordance with CONTRACTOR
approved CSSP and relevant SACSM requirements.
Daily toolbox meetings shall be conducted as mandatory, educating skilled personnel
& labors about evacuation drills, motivates them to use proper and appropriate PPE
for the job.
Work Permits (WP) shall be obtained from the relevant authorities thru the assistance
of the Contractor. The WP shall always be available during the work execution.
Approved Job Safety Analysis (JSA) must be discussed by Site Engineer/Safety
Officer to the Working Team before the activity starts. Each personnel must be aware
of all hazards associated with the Works. And since JSA is an active document, it
may change accordingly as the work progresses.
Personal Protective Equipment’s (PPE) shall be provided and required, varying and
appropriate to type of Works. Safety Belts, with associated harness and lifeline shall
be provided for the personnel working at heights.

All tools & equipment should be checked prior to commencing any work and at the
end of any work to report any defect or damage that may have occurred during an
activity.
Hand tools should be inspected on a regular basis and be in good working condition.
All workers shall have working at heights training prior to working at heights. To
ensure that all workers working at heights shall wear full body harness with 100% tie
off.
Any incident at site shall be immediately reported to client and recorded. Weekly
Safety Statistics Reports and Safety Performance Reports, etc. shall be prepared
and recorded.
All debris and excess materials shall be removed form site and dispose to an
approved dumping area.
Proper housekeeping shall be maintaned at working area.
