QUALITY/CRITICAL CHECKS: SAFETY CHECKS:

1) Ensure customer is aware that a Pressure Relieve Valve (PRV) is a last line of defense to
protect the integrity of the well and not a means to control Frac pressure. (Follow step 2a
below to ensure line placement on truck side of check valve)
2) Ensure all pressure kick outs are in working order and a global kick out pressure
is mapped to the TCC instrument skid pressure transducer located upstream of the main
check/wheel valve assembly. (High pressure pump side)
1) Ensure all personnel involved with prime and test procedures discussed in ST-GL-HAL-PE-410
understand them
2) Ensure LOTO is used on wellhead assembly to prevent out of sequence operation of valves
3) Ensure all personnel in process have the ability to communicate to others during process.
4) During rig-up, Ground supervisor ensures all wheel and Lo-Torc® valves operate correctly.
5) Ensure "Red Zone" safety perimeter is established around PRV trailer while pressure testing and
pumping is in progress.
6) Ensure PRV unit is isolated from line pressure before shutting down to perform maintenance.
7) NEVER install a choke or other restriction in flow line downstream of PRV. If necessary to have a
valve to control flow path, it shall be full opening and LOTO used to ensure valve is OPEN.

Gather pressure requirements from customer:

a) Establish maximum Frac pressure and kick out pressure limits. 2a where

Unit Preparation:
3 a) Ensure hatch is open on tank
b) If connecting to an external tank ensure drain valves are open to supporting tank

Unit Set Up: 4d

a) Run cables to TCC and remote control
b) Start the power pack. (ball valve open until warmed up)
c) Turn on master power switch on electrical enclosure 4e
d) Ensure the Relief Valve Back Pressure control is set to at least 500 psi over unloader mode on the

e) Turn the power switch on the Remote Control Panel to ON
f) Allow components to warm to operating temperature
g) Tare the Remote Control Panel pressure displays to zero psi by holding the P key for three seconds 4g

Prime Up:
a) Set the Relief Valve Back Pressure control to OFF position

5 b) Set the manual isolation valve to fully open
c) Set the hydraulically-controlled isolation valve to OPEN
d) Pump fluid through the high pressure manifold until it is clearly flowing in the tank

Set PRV: 4-in. Double Poppet Relief Valve Manual

a) Establish hydraulic oil supply to the relief valve
b) Bleed off the air from the hydraulic system
c) Check the maximum pressure setting by slowly turning the pressure-adjustment knob clockwise until it stops
turning. The pressure gauge should now indicate a pressure of 2,400 psi or greater. If the indicated pressure is less
than 2,400 psi, adjust the emergency relief valve; this valve is located on top of the hydraulic manifold and is screw
adjusted. Turn this adjustment screw clockwise until the pressure indicates 2,500 psi. Lock the emergency relief
valve at this setting, and then turn the adjustment knob counterclockwise until 2,400 psi is indicated
6 d) Set PRV 500 psi above maximum kick out pressure setting, without exceeding lowest rated DME component.
Follow manual for setting PRV
e) Set the desired relieving pressure for the treating job with the pressure-adjustment knob. Turning this knob
counterclockwise reduces the relieving pressure. To relate the hydraulic pressure to the approximate treating- 6c
relieving pressure, multiply the hydraulic pressure by 6.25.
f) Open remote valve at PRV trailer and ensure all valves are open to PRV trailer

Pre job Leak Test:

a) Set the remote-control panel to specified pressure by monitoring the relief-pressure digital display.
b) Bring the line pressure up to 1,000 psi less than the set relief pressure
c) Set the hydraulically-controlled isolation valve to CLOSED
7 d) Monitor the Relief Pressure display to determine any leakage

e) Set the hydraulically-controlled isolation valve to OPEN by holding the switch in the OPEN position until
the green OPEN light turns on
f) Bleed off Pressure

During Job Leak Test:

a) Set the hydraulically-controlled isolation valve to CLOSED

8 b) Monitor the Relief Pressure display to determine any leakage 10- 30 seconds
c) Set the hydraulically-controlled isolation valve to OPEN by holding the switch in the OPEN position until the green
OPEN light turns on.

PRV Activation:
a) Typically a PRV activation is a stage ending event
9 b) To reset PRV, lower hydraulic pressure by turning the pressure adjustment knob counter clock wise, this will
reduce pressure prior to activating reset button and prevent damage to internal components

Contingency plan should customer increase pressure requirements during Frac job:
