BCOM Group Assignment Topics

General Instructions

• You need to pick one of two options (roughly quantitative or qualitative) assigned to
your section below.
• Presentation time is between 3 to 4 minutes. No more than 10 (primarily visual) slides
allowed.
• You need to record your video response, and send us the link to this video.
• During the recording, please ensure that the faces of the presenters are seen clearly
along with the slides.
• Please also send the transcript of your presentation, with names of each member (e.g.
1. Ashish: “……” 2. Neha: “…….”).
• We are not looking for the “right” answer (in a similar vein to the spirit of case
interviews). The focus is on communication components presented in class such as
good logical appeal, credibility where needed, a connect to your audience, good sound
bites, compelling visuals, and concise and precise communication.

TOPICS BY SECTION

Section A (Hyderabad) and Section I (Mohali)

1. Estimate the number of T-Shirts that will be purchased by Hyderabad residents


(online and offline) in 2022?

OR

2. Present a plan for a new ISB student magazine (published monthly, and ideally
circulated to the entire ISB campus community). Please include a high-level
marketing and content strategy.

Section B (Hyderabad) and Section J (Mohali)

1. Estimate the total number of steps taken by an average ISB student in a typical (non-
COVID) academic year.

OR

2. One of your teammates wants to become a leadership coach in the future. Please
advise him or her on features for an ideal website, benchmarking the sites of other
leadership coaches.

Section C (Hyderabad) and Section K (Mohali)

1. Estimate the number of Justin Bieber songs watched on YouTube by teenagers in


India in 2021.
(A count is when a user intentionally initiates the watching of the video and watches it
on the platform for at least 30 seconds. Bieber songs include artist collaborations,
such as “Stay” with The Kid Laroi),

OR

2. Tata Motors is about to launch a competitor to the Mercedes AMG A 45s sports
hatchback car, for half the price in India. They have asked you to come up with a list
of 5 colours that the car could be ordered in, with specific shade names (such as
Tanzanite Blue, Black Sapphire Metallic, Frozen White). Which five shades do you
pick for the Indian market and why? Present a concise and precise message to the
internal product team on the same.

Section D (Hyderabad) and Section L (Mohali)

1. Estimate the market size (in INR) for weddings in India in 2022.
(This includes direct spends on wedding day, including guest spending at venue, but
not related spends such as engagement rings, guest transport, sangeet night etc.)

OR

2. You just independently published your first book, and you now want to market it
extensively over the coming year. Please develop a communication & marketing plan
that you could execute on.
(You are welcome to use Minutes of Magic as a sample here, but can choose any
other real of fictitious book of your choice)

Section E and Section F (Hyderabad)

1. Estimate the number of wine bottles that will be sold in India in 2022.

OR

2. Please form an ideal 2023 IPL team (greatest chance of winning) given the salary cap
of Rs 90 crore per team. You can purchase any players from any team with their exact
2022 salaries towards the cap.

Section G and Section H (Hyderabad)

1. Estimate the 2022 market size (in INR) for tennis rackets in India, overall and by
gender.

OR

2. You are pitching to be an image consultant for Rahul Gandhi or Elon Musk. Please
come up with an initial selling pitch to wow either one of them.
