DOT Health and Wellness Webinar Series Reflection Paper

We all have been affected by the current COVID-19 pandemic. However, the impact of the
pandemic and its consequences are felt differently depending on our status as individuals and
as members of society. While some try to adapt to working online, homeschooling their
children and ordering food via Instacart, others have no choice but to be exposed to the virus
while keeping society functioning. Our different social identities and the social groups we
belong to determine our inclusion within society and, by extension, our vulnerability to
epidemics.
The webinar “staying well in the midst of a crisis” provide me with strategies for dealing
with stress and its gives me an idea on how to fight or to face this crisis.
Despite the fact that the quarantine period in our area has been lifted, there is still concern abo
ut the virus's risk. I've been under a lot of stress lately, and it's affecting my day
today activities. One of the speakers, Miss Jackie Caiza, spoke on stress and how it affects us.
I've learned that not all stress is negative stress; some stress can have a positive consequence a
s well, and I can attest to this. There were instances when deadlines caused me so much stress
that I became driven to work on those things as a result of that tension, which was a beneficial
byproduct of my stress. Our brain, she claims, is like an orchestra, and the harmony changes
when we are stressed. If we allow this situation to impact us and cause us to become anxious,
we will have cloudy thinking about everything around us, which is not healthy. Miss Caiza
provided me with suggestions as well as routines for maintaining a healthy brain, which would
undoubtedly be beneficial during this pandemic.
Additionally, according to , Dr. Lou Mandalupe a psychologist, mental health counselor and
certified life coach gave ideas on how to take care of my mental health. The majority of us
experience anxiety during these moments. We had difficulties sleeping because of the stress of
not being able to go out as often as we wanted and the dread of contracting a virus. This
webinar provided me with information on how to take care of my health. Stay away from things
that make us think badly, such as toxicity, overthinking the thing that make us stress. Learn to
understand others because, like us, they have gone through a lot. We must look after our
health and never be concerned about tomorrow's problems that have made us uncomfortable
today.
As what Ms. Fia said that also a food that we intake help to fuel our life too. So, we should
also have an idea to the food that we eat. We should know first if that food is healthy or
unhealthy. Because the food that we eat affects how our mind function. Also according to her
we should listen to our bodies because the food we want isn't always healthy or unhealthy, and
we shouldn't ignore the nutrition our bodies require. They also say we should look for the
satisfaction we get after eating. Be kind with ourselves; we don't need to strive for perfection
because the world isn't flawless. Ms.Fia has provided a really useful quote. Also Mr. Edsel M.
Segovia talked about the necessity of moving every day and how, despite the crisis, we should
find methods to engage in physical activities because they are essential for our health.
