ACTIVITY TITLE: Case Analysis
CASE STORY TITLE: No Read, No Write: Story of Mang Deolito

Conflict Identification
In the case of Mang Deolito, I found some particular concerns about his conditions. We all know
that he had difficulties reading and writing which is the main issue for this type of issue. The
difficulties that he ever encountered were dyslexia (difficulty in reading) and dysgraphia(difficulty
in writing). These two disorders are most commonly for those who have lack education. He has
dyslexia and dysgraphia because his family doesn't have money to pay for tuition fees; instead,
they have money for his younger siblings for their education. Another is that his family was part
of an indigenous tribe.
Plan of Action
My action plan for those out of school was to have a free education program for the kids.
However, in the case of Mang Deolito, where he is part of the indigenous tribe, I must say that
we need to have a special for him, especially for the adults who have dyslexia and dysgraphia
was, to have a particular class for them. This type of class is more on basic writing and reading.
Another is to build a learning facility for the tribal community. I mention this because most rural
places take a mile journey to travel the school barefoot to learn everything. The community will
donate from the whole organization for community service and the government to the
community who lives in a rural area.
Reflection
My reflection reminds me of an Indian movie that I watched back in Grade Six. Titled called
"Taare Zameen Par" (in translation: "Like Stars on Earth"). Ishaan (the main character in the
movie) has dyslexia, so he has problems studying and gets low grades until an art teacher helps
him improve his reading skills to maintain his grades. The movie is related to Mang Deolito and
other people out of school who have difficulties in writing and reading and only rely on people
who are well educated to write and read. Although they have skills, reading and writing are still
essential for everyone. Without these skills, it will be difficult for them to handle their jobs and
all. We need to teach these people to write and read because we have a purpose of helping
everyone in need of education. Some of us have a different background in education, but most of
us need to understand that everyone needs proper education to pursue their dreams.
