A. Preliminary Activity

1.Prayer
The Teacher will ask someone to lead the
prayer. The student will lead the prayer
2. Greetings
Good Morning Class!
3. Checking of Attendance
Who is absent today?
Alright! None ma’am!
4. Motivation
The teacher will present the jumbled words
and let the students arrange it. ANSWERS:

5. GNALE 5. Angle
Alright! Very Good Class!
So, can anyone from the class guess what will
be our topic for today?
5. Presentation
Our topic for today is all about Introduction
to six trigonometric ratios. Before we
proceed, let us know first the learning At the end of the lessons, the
objectives that must be achieved at the end of students should be able to:
the lesson. 1. Identify an isosceles
Can I ask a volunteer to please read.
trapezoid
2. Illustrate isosceles trapezoid
B. Activity Proper/ Discussion and its properties
The teacher will present the topic in 3. Work collaboratively on
introduction to Trigonometric ratios. classroom activities
The ratio of the side of a right triangle is
called TRIGONOMETRIC RATIO
The term hypotenuse, opposite and adjacent
refers to the length of the sides

The students will listen to the

discussion

● HYPOTENUSE- The longest

● OPPOSITE- the side across the
reference angle in a right triangle
● ADJACENT- the side next to the
reference angle in a right triangle.
The six trigonometric ratios are sine, cosine,
tangent, secant and cotangent.
- The teacher will introduce the primary
trigonometric ratios and secondary
trigonometric ratios.
These six trigonometric ratios are divided into
two. We have the primary trigonometric ratios
and the secondary trigonometric ratios.
For the primary trigonometric ratios we have:
𝑂𝑝𝑝𝑜𝑠𝑖𝑡𝑒 𝑧
Sin𝚹 = 𝐻𝑦𝑝𝑜𝑡𝑒𝑛𝑢𝑠𝑒 = 𝑦
𝐴𝑑𝑗𝑎𝑐𝑒𝑛𝑡 𝑥
Csc𝚹 = 𝐻𝑦𝑝𝑜𝑡𝑒𝑛𝑢𝑠𝑒
=𝑦
𝑂𝑝𝑝𝑜𝑠𝑖𝑡𝑒 𝑧
Tan𝚹 = 𝐴𝑑𝑗𝑎𝑐𝑒𝑛𝑡
=𝑥
For the secondary trigonometric ratios we
have:
𝐻𝑦𝑝𝑜𝑡𝑒𝑛𝑢𝑠𝑒 𝑦
Csc𝚹 = 𝑂𝑝𝑝𝑜𝑠𝑖𝑡𝑒 = 𝑧

𝐻𝑦𝑝𝑜𝑡𝑒𝑛𝑢𝑠𝑒 𝑦
Sec𝚹 = 𝐴𝑑𝑗𝑎𝑐𝑒𝑛𝑡
= 𝑥

𝐴𝑑𝑗𝑎𝑐𝑒𝑛𝑡 𝑥
Tan𝚹 = 𝑂𝑝𝑝𝑜𝑠𝑖𝑡𝑒
= 𝑧
The teacher will give an example

In relation to ∠Z
● Opposite Side : z
● Adjacent Side : x
● Hypotenuse : y

In relation to ∠X
● Opposite side : x
● Adjacent side : z
● Hypotenuse : y
Are you following class?
Since, none I will will give you a seatwork Yes ma’am!
INSTRUCTION: Find the six trigonometric
ratios of the given right triangle.

Answers:
3
SinZ = 5
4
CosZ = 5
3
TanZ = 4
5
CscZ = 3
5
SecZ = 4
4
CotZ = 3

C. Analysis
1. How did you find the activity? Answers may vary
2. What must be your guide in SOH CAH TOA
determining the six trigonometric
ratios?
D. Abstraction
1. What are trigonometric ratios? Trigonometric Ratios are defined
as the values of all the
trigonometric functions based on
the value of the ratio of sides in a
right-angled triangle.
2. What are the three primary
trigonometric ratios? The three primary trigonometric
3. How about the secondary ratios are sine, cosine, and tangent
trigonometric ratios? The secondary ratios are
4. In your own words, describe the cosecant,secant and cotangent.
hypotenuse in a right triangle? Answer may vary
E. Application
Now to further deepen your understanding
about the lesson. Divide yourselves into five
groups and answer the given problem.
Direction: find the six trigonometric ratios in
the right triangle given the sides and angle.

1. sinB =____
2. cosB =____
3. tanB =____
4. cscB =____
5. secB =____
6. cotB =____
B. A six meter long ladder leans against the
building at dona Hortencia Salas Benedicto
National High School. The base is 3 meters
from the wall and the height of the building is
5 meters. Draw the figure and give the six
trigonometric ratios.

.IV. Evaluation:
Direction: Find the six trigonometric ratios in the right triangle given the sides and angl

1. sinF= ____
2. cosF=____
3. tanF= ____
4. cscF= ____
5. secF= ____
6. cotF= ____
V. Assignment
The students from grade 9- cookery class baked a right triangular shaped cake that they will
give to their math subject teacher. They were instructed to measure the opposite, adjacent and
hypotenuse sides of the cake.
1. Illustrate the given problem
2. Measure the adjacent, opposite and hypotenuse sides
3. Give the value of the six trigonometric ratios.
