ACCOMPLISHMENT REPORT

I. Project Title

The ARES Research

II. Project Location

Tugbo Integrated School, Tugbo, Mobo, Masbate

III. Project Summary

This research was conducted at Tugbo Integrated School, with a population of 569

learners, (LIS Report). The school consisted of 31 teachers including the school head, 377

elementary learners, 146 junior high school learners and 46 senior high school learners. The

school is equipped with internet connection and is at the heart of the barangay. The advent of

this pandemic led the schools to shift and seek new teaching strategies to reach its learners.

Thus, lack of guidance and supervision from the teachers to its learners made a significant

impact on the reading capabilities of our learners today. In this study, the target groups were

the twenty-one (21) grade seven (7) learners of the school.

IV. Actual Results or Outcomes of the Project

The ARES research proved to be a challenging task to be completed for the researchers

because most of the learners that went back for the face-to-face classes are struggling to read.

But with the help of innovations and meticulously constructed reading programs that the

school and teachers provided, the learners are starting to cope and are showing improvement

in their reading capabilities. By using new methods and activities to aid the reading

capabilities of learners such as the online komustahan and the balanced reading program that

has been initiated by the school and adviser to sort and categorize the reading capabilities of

learners according to their reading level. All of the twenty-one (21) grade 7 learners showed

significant growth and improvement to their reading capabilities.

V. Problems Met and Solutions Offered

One of the most common problems that the researchers encountered was the lack of

discipline of the learners when it comes to punctuality. So, to address the problem, the

researchers and the school initiated and improved the online komustahan with the occasional

home visitation so that the teachers can track the progress of the learners.

VI. Lessons Learned

The researchers learned that, to maximize the time and efficiency of the reading program

materials, constant follow up with proper guidance, positive reinforcements and facilities are

needed. The parents have a crucial role as well to play in this endeavor.

VII. Recommendation for Replication and Sustainability

The research may be applied to all the intermediate level of learning so that the

learners can be grade level ready. The reading materials, strategies and facilities must be

preserved for the next grade learners. Improvements can be applied to suit the needs of

the learners.
