1.0 OBJECTIVE

To outline method statement by which painting work is carried out.

2.0 SCOPE

This method statement shall apply for all painting works on building and civil
engineering projects.

9.0 PREPARATORY WORKS

9.1 Obtain approved PTW from the client/client’s representative.

9.2 Ensure surface to be painted are clean.

9.3 Protect appropriate fittings and other surfaces using plastic canvas or
equivalent material. Barricade the working radius and posted appropriate
signages. Provide secondary container for storage purpose. Standby
person shall be monitor and ensure all precaution measure has been
done prior to start work.

9.4 Before applying coatings, ensure moisture content of substrate will not
adversely affect the completed work.

9.5 Check for surface irregularities.

9.6 Ensure provision of artificial lighting.

9.7 Submit Request for Inspection Form before proceeding with the work.

9.8 Carry out receiving inspection of necessary materials as per Receiving


Inspection and Testing Procedure.

9.9 File completed Receiving Inspection Checklist as per Project Filing Index.

10.0 WORK METHODOLOGY

10.1 Mix paint well by stirring. If thinner is required ensure approval by


client/client’s representative.

10.2 Apply all painting materials as per Client’s instructions. The paint can be
applied by brushing and roller painting.

10.3 If primer is required, work primer well into surface, joints, angles and, on
timber, into end grain.

10.4 Apply undercoats and finishing coats evenly to give a continuous film,
free from runs, brush marks and other imperfections. Allow each coat to
dry before succeeding coat is applied.

10.5 Submit Request for Inspection Form for joint inspection with client/client’s
representative.

10.6 On completion of joint inspection, request client/client’s representative to


sign on the Painting Works Inspection Checklist and file as per Project
Filing Index.

10.7 Carry out computation and submit for claim.
