1.0 Scope:
This Work Method Statement is prepared to provide guidelines for carrying out the
Road Laying works as per the drawings and work orders.
2.0 Scope:

This Method statement is applicable for Road Laying works of WTE, Dundigal.

3.0 Location of work:

Location of Road laying works shall be wherever applicable in WTE-Dundigal, as per the Work
order and GFC drawings.

5.0 Responsibilities:
Site Engineer

a. Compliance with this method statement.


b. Compliance with G.F.C drawings
c. Taking all safety measures as per SWMS / HIRA
d. Initiation of Work Inspection Request after Complying to the above
(a,b&C)
e. Coordination with related functions, Sub contractors & agencies.

QA/QC Representative

a. Ensuring Approved Materials are being used.


b. Ensure work is being carried out as per approved Method statement.
c. To ensure compliance with the G.F.C drawings and Specifications.
d. Taking Pre cautionary measures to avoid Non Conformance.
e. Forwarding the RFI to PMC /Client.
HSE Engineer
a) Provide necessary Personal Protective Equipment’s (PPE) to all the
workmen.

b) Ensure that all works are carried out in a safe manner by


coordinating with site engineer, sub-contractors.

7.0 Work Procedure:
1. Road laying Works layout shall be marked as per GFC
drawings.
2. Dressing/Trimming shall be done to get the uniform level
and to maintain the formation levels provided in the drawing.
3. Site engineer will take the levels before starting of
excavation of the soil. The same will be submitted to client for the
reference.
4. The surface should be free from loose earth and other foreign
matters after leveling using the appropriate equipment.

5. After Reaching the desired level Compaction of soil will be


determined by core cutting method.

6. If the results are satisfactory then leveling will be done & will
proceed to further, if the results are not satisfactory then compaction will be done
using baby roller to the required level of compaction on the mother soil.

7. Due to the loose soil conditions, if any excavation goes beyond the
required level, either the surface shall be dressed up to the lower most level to
maintain the uniform thickness of roads or filled up using the same material
excavated in the other area(CBR<15) of the roads or C&D GSB will be used. Where
ever required cutting & filling will be done in layers.

8. Both excavated soil(CBR,LLPL & MDD) as well as C&D GSB(AIV & MDD)
test reports for will be submitted.

9. Laying of C&D GSB will be done in 1 layer of thickness 200mm after


fully compacted filler material as per specifications, with the compaction report will
be documented.

10. Using 10 ton capacity vibrator roller compaction will be done to the
required level by protecting the edges of the road up to kerb line.

11. Alternate panels will be casted while concreting as per drawing &
site conditions. Panel measurements are 5M length & 3.5M width.

12. Camber will be provided in the road as per drawing.

13. Pouring of concrete will not be done not more than 1.5 M heights, if
the height exceeds 1.5M chute will be used for placing concrete.

14. Approved concrete mix design is used for concreting along with
Recron 3s fibers & broom finishing will be carried out.

15. Concrete compaction will be ensured with 60mm needle vibrator &
cubes shall be casted only if the concrete quantity is more than 3m3.

16. The thickness of concrete as per drawing(200mm) shall be ensured


after compaction .

17. Curing bunds will be prepared for curing period of 7 days & site
engineer will be responsible for the same.

18. At every 20M interval expansion joint is provided with mastic pad
along with the dowel bars(reinforcement bars of 25mm or 32mm dia) as shown in
the drawing..

19. Alignment & straightness of the Road laying will be followed as per
drawings.

20. At expansion joint only mastic pad will be provided.

21. Dowel bars of dia 25mm or 32mm with 200mm center to center
spacing & PVC pipes along with caps will be placed before placing concrete as per
drawing at expansion joint

22. Turning radius of the road will be provided & maintained as per
drawings.

23. After every 3rd Kerb stone a spacing of 150mm will be given to drain
out the water.

Joints:
The exact location & type of joint to be transferred at site as mentioned in drawing. All joints
shall be provided as per drawing. Mastic pad will be used as per site requirements.

Weather and Seasonal Limitations:

Concreting during monsoon months:


Sufficient supply of tarpaulin will be provided along the line of work. If the damage is limited
to texture it will be retextured

Concreting in Hot Weather:


Care will be taken in reducing temperature of concrete such as use of sprinkling of water
over aggregates.

Preparation of joint & sealing of joint grooves:

Joint grooved will be constructed to an additional depth/width of 6mm width & 25mm
depth. The grooves shall be cleaned, dried, cleaned from dirt & loose material by air blasting.
Bitumen of grade 80/100 will be used in the Construction & Expansion Joints.
