1. INTRODUCTION
This Method Statement serves the purpose of providing all the necessary information required to
safely carry out the Lifting of Solar Panel for DOME Advanced Electromechanical Works using 30
Tonne Mobile Crane.
A copy of the method statement and drawing shall be made available to all persons directly
involved with the operation. After the supervisors and personals shall be required to sign a
document in which they agree that they have understood all the procedures that are to be carried
out and have familiarized themselves with it.
2. DEFINITION
3. SCOPE
The Method statement shall be referred to the site in charge upon completion of the scope of work
this document refers to.
4. GENERAL INFORMATION
All activities to be attempted during daylight hours if possible. If the task cannot be
completed during daylight hours, then adequate lighting to be supplied by the Client.
Any lifting will not commence if the visibility is impaired due to fog, sandstorm, excessive
rain, or other reasons.
Weather forecast from the local Met Office to be requested before lifting.
Crane standing area and the slewing area should be free from obstacles.

The ground should be levelled, compacted, and capable of crane required GBP.
A toolbox talk will be carried out before starting a job daily, making sure that every individual
understands their roles and responsibilities throughout the job. The toolbox to be conducted in as
many languages as are required to achieve this objective. The toolbox talk should always emphasize
safety for all activities involved in completing the job. Always be reminded of the word “SAFETY
FIRST”. All personnel involved in the activities should sign on a toolbox record sheet.
5. METHOD STATEMENT
Note: This method statement represents the procedure to be followed, drawings, and risk
assessments to ensure the safe and professional completion of the project scope.
1. At a designated date/time our 30 Tonne Mobile Crane will be mobilized to the site.
2. Necessary permit to be obtained before set up and operation in the demarcated area.
3. New personnel arriving on site will be given a site safety induction briefing to establish a
Safe System of Work, which will be in force for the duration of all activities at the site.
Personnel will also be briefed on the correct use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
4. The exact set-up location for the crane will be surveyed for available space, sufficient ground
bearing capabilities, underground services, and obstructions. Any underground services or
obstructions in the set-up location will be noted and discussed with the client with a view
to temporary protection or temporary removal/reinstatement as appropriate before crane
setup.
5. The risk assessment will form the basis of the pre-task talk involving all personnel
concerned with mobilizing and setting up the crane(s). Each person will be briefed on his
specific tasks during mobilizing and crane set-up.
6. Once the crane will reach the site and take the position at a particular location suitable place
to achieve maximum distance, acquiring us working radius as per the lifting plan.

7. A helper will project 100% of the outrigger out from the crane.
8. Helpers will put a wooden crane mat below the outrigger to maintain levelling of the crane
to the ground.
9. Helpers will adjust the height of the outrigger and maintain the levelling of the crane
outrigger parallel with the ground.
10. Then for making the hook free, the rigger will give an appropriate signal to the operator for
up the boom and for loosening down the wire rope for detaching the hook from the rope
and when the hook will become free from the rope, the helper will unhook it.
12. Once the crane is set up and the job foremen/operator is gratified in all respects, the
operator will be asked to cautiously raise the boom to get the required height. The operator
will simulate the lift to check the radius and reach of the crane for any necessary
adjustments, if required the job foremen will double-check in all aspects, to ensure
everything is perfect.
13. These procedures for crane setting will be done if the crane has to be the shift to another
location for the job as the preferred radius mentioned by the supervisor.
1. On completion of crane setup and rigging the operator will set the boom to the required
configuration as per the lifting plan.
2. Dimensional checks for the lift radius and the swing radius are to be verified.
3. The lifting tackle will be inspected for condition and the correct colour code before all lifting
operations.
4. Lifting tackles will be connected to the hook block as per lifting study/supervisor
instruction.
5. Weather conditions will be closely monitored before and during all lifting operations.
6. The boom tip will be positioned directly over the Centre of gravity of the Solar Panel. (Centre
of gravity is given by Client)
7. The lifting tackle will be attached to the lifting points of the Solar Panel.
8. The crane(s) will lift until all the lifting slings are tight. The Solar Panel weight will be
monitored using the safe load indicator (SLI) equipment and checked by the Lifting
Supervisor that it is as predicted.

10. The Solar Panel will be loosened; the item progressively raised checking the gaps until it is
slightly clear of the support. The load will be monitored using the SLI equipment and
checked by the Lifting Supervisor that it is as predicted.
11. A safety check will be carried out to ensure all lifting tackle is secured.
13. Confirmation to proceed with the operation will be approved by the Lifting Supervisor.
14. The crane(s) will then commence hoisting until the Solar Panel is fully clear from the
support.
15. The crane(s) operator will then lift the Solar Panel to the required height and swing the
boom towards the installation area (The installation area will confirm by the client).
17. Once the load reaches overhead the Lifting point, the site supervisor will instruct lowering
the hook. The process will be progressing very slowly and it will continue until the load is
completely positioned (final position will be as per lifting study).
18. Once the Load is completely positioned to the Lifting point, lifting tackles will be released
from the lifting points.
19. The same procedure will follow for the complete Lifting of Solar Panel.
20. After completion of the task, we will start the course of de-rigging and retract the
boom/outrigger.
21. BOB crew will de-mobilize the crane to the BOB yard.
