ABSTRACT

The novel corona virus has become a worldwide public health pandemic that has induced
anomic conditions impacting daily routines. Since well-functioning criminal
investigations and proceedings which are crucial parts of a society governed by the rule
of law, it is essential to understand what are crimes committed during Covid19 pandemic.
The main purpose of this paper was to determine the crimes committed during pandemic
in Tudela, Misamis Occidental. The researchers wanted to know also the police
interventions conducted to minimize the occurrence of criminality in the said locality.
The respondents of this study were the 30 residents from the barangays with highest
crime volume. A descriptive quantitative method was employed in the study. The
findings of the study revealed that there were 22 different crimes committed during the
pandemic. These were Anti-Child Abuse Law, Anti-Gambling Law, Anti-VAWC Act of
2004, Cockfighting Law Of 1974, Comp. Dangerous Drugs Act 2002, Comprehensive Fa
Law, Falsification By Private Individual, Frustrated/Attempted Homicide, Frustrated
/Attempted Murder, Grave Threats, Homicide, Light Threat, Malicious Mischief, Murder
(Plain), Parricide, Qualified Theft, Qualified Trespass to Dwelling, Rape, Resisting
Authorities, RIR Damage to Property, RIR Homicide, RIR Physical Injury, Robbery.
With this, police interventions were conducted to minimize the occurrence of such
criminalities. With the help of the people in the community and the strict enforcement of
laws by authorities, these crimes could be lessened.
