While earth revolve around the sun, the moon also revolves around the earth.
The revolution of moon to the Earth produces other phenomena.

Ask student to guess or give a phenomenon due to the movement of moon.

If they cant give or guess show pictures/video as clue.

The shadow created by the revolution of moon to to earth resulted to the

phenomenon called Eclipse

How Eclipse Happened?

Before discussing the scientific basis of the occurrence of eclipses let learners listen
to the Filipino myths about eclipse.
What is myths?
(Across the Descipline)

Minokawa

In Bagobo myth, the minokawa is responsible for the lunar eclipse. It was believed that this
island-sized bird always tried to swallow the moon. To discourage it from consuming the moon
completely, the people would make loud noise.

Its abode is somewhere outside the eastern sky (probably space). This gargantuan bird has a beak
and talons of steel, eyes like mirrors, and tough sharp feathers.

Activity 1: Lunar or Solar?

Put the number for each statement into the correct location on the Venn Diagram to
compare and contrast Solar and Lunar Eclipse.
1. Moon is between Earth and the Sun
2. The Sun, Earth, Moon line up
3. View of the sun is blocked in the Earth
4. Moons turns dark red
5. Suns look black
6. Happened only during new moon
7. Caused by the moo’s orbit around the earth
8. Happens only during a full moo
9. Earths between sun and moon
10. Moon is in the earth’s shadow
