mastery (Leads to 1. Why do we need to live sustainably?
Formative 2. Why can’t we use all of our resources excessively?
Assessment)
(EXPLAIN)

G.Finding (10 minutes)  Turn off electrical appliances when not in use- coal
practical and natural gas serve as a catalyst to run a turbine.
applications of In our homes, can you enumerate ways to utilize Earth’s resources in a sustainable way? And why do you This turbine generates electricity. Natural gas and
concepts and think that is the best practice for you? coal are part of non-renewable resources. If all the
skills in daily coals and natural gases are used we don’t have any
living more source of it which in return we may run out of
(ELABORATE) energy. Moreover we over utilize these kinds of
resources we may live a huge carbon-footprint that
may dramatically affect ecosystems.
 Do not waste food and water- if we over utilize these
resources and waste them. The world may
experience a great famine which may affect not only
animals but also humans. If we run out of water then
the chance for the continuation of life to flourish
will be at lost.
 Recycle plastics bottles by turning them into pots
and container- plastics bottles may end up in the
ocean, forests, or anywhere. This garbage may end
up being the food of marine life which exhausts
animals that live there. In return we also end up
eating these affected animals which can greatly
affect ones health. We may use these plastic bottles
again so that may not end up in the ocean or in the
forest to disturb wildlife.
 Have your own garden full of vegetables and fruits-
Most of the time we buy our food in grocery stores
which involves a lot of packaging, process of
importing, and exporting of product which it relates
to so much practices that are unsustainable. The
best and simple way is to have a garden. If you have
a garden you have access to foods that do not
involve unsustainable practice which reduces a lot
of energy, resources being involved.

H. Making (5 minutes)
generalizations
and abstractions There are two types of Earth's natural resources. It can either be renewable or nonrenewable resources.
about the lesson Renewable resources –resources that replaced after it is utilized. Example: plants and animals, water,

Non-Renewable resources- resources that can't be replaced easily and takes a long time to replace.
Example: soil, copper, iron, and aluminum, Coal, oil, and natural gas.

I. Evaluating Direction: Encircle the letter of the correct answer. (1/4 sheet of paper)
Learning 1. B
(EVALUATE) 1. Which of the following DOES NOT belong to wise conservation of energy?
A. Constructing dams to places near waterfalls
B. Dumping of garbage and chemical waste into rivers and streams
C. Making windmills in areas with strong seasonal winds
D. Using water to generate electricity

2. Is geologic structure considered one of the factors why the Philippines are rich in minerals? 2. A
A. Yes. The existence of minerals in the Philippines indicates that geologic structures like active faults and
volcanoes exist.
B. Yes. The existence of minerals in the Philippines means the country is rich in metal and non-metal
elements.
C. No. There is no relationship between the existence of minerals and geologic structure in the Philippines.
D. No. Having a geologic structure in the Philippines does not mean it is rich in minerals.

3. What are the factors that will cause changes to soil formation? 3. A
A. Climate, temperature, and amount of rainfall
B. The slope of the land, temperature, particle of soil
C. Amount of soil, amount of rainfall, the slope of the land
D. Replanting, use of compost as fertilizers, amount of rainfall

4. Which of the following resources is NOT considered as renewable?

A. Natural gas 4. A
B. animals
C. Plants
D. water

5. If your community is abundant with metallic minerals, what should you undertake to conserve such
precious mineral deposits? 5. C
A. Process all of them for personal gain
B. Build up tunnels under the ground to harvest minerals
C. Create laws and ordinances to control mining activities
D. Use dynamite to clear out trees and mountains, thereby discover metallic deposits.
J. Additional (By pair)
activities for
application for For your assignment you will create a poster in a bond paper that showcases the consequences of excessive
remediation utilization of Earth’s resources. The pair will explain to the class their work tomorrow.
