Definition of Cause and Effect

In the cause and effect relationship, one or


more things happen as a result of something
else.

Cause
A cause is a catalyst, a motive, or an action that
brings about a reaction—or reactions

EXAMPLES:
Cause
Because of the rainy weather, we
cancelled the picnic
As a Noun (Cause)
Pada noun (Kata Benda) berarti sesuatu yang menyebabkan
suatu hal terjadi.

EXAMPLES: Noun
Because of the rainy weather, we
cancelled the picnic
As a Verb (Cause)
Pada verb berarti tindakan yang membuat sesuatu terjadi.

EXAMPLES:
The electrical short caused the fire
Effect
An effect is a condition, occurrence, or result generated by one or more
causes. Effects are outcomes.
EXAMPLES:
Because of the rainy weather, we
cancelled the picnic
Effect
so...that and such...that
So...That
It expresses a cause and effect.

Grammar:
Subject + Verb+ So + adjective/adverb + that

EXAMPLES:
I was so sleepy that I couldn't keep my eyes open.
Example so..that
Cause: It was too windy.
Effect: We couldn't go sailing.

It was so windy that we couldn't go sailing.


(windy- adjective)

Cause: The dress was wonderfully designed.


Effect: I couldn't take my eyes off it.

The dress was so wonderfully designed that I


couldn't take my eyes off it.
(wonderfully- adverb)
Such...that

Indicate Degree atau yang menunjukan derajat,


derajat disini artinya "sangat"

Grammar:
Subject + Verb +such + (adjective) + NOUN + that
Example such...that
Cause: It was a great movie.
Effect: I watched it several times.

It's such a great movie that I've watched it several times.


(great-adjective, movie-noun)

Cause: She is a very charming woman.


Effect: Everybody stares at her.

She is such a charming woman that everybody stares at her.


(charming-adjective, woman-noun)
