Excited to Go to School
Written by Joyce R. Loma

It was the first day of the school. Mara was very excited. She went to sleep early the night before and so she got up very early
that morning, even before Mother woke her up.

Mother carried Mara’s red school bag with the things she needed in it, such as a box of crayons, some pencils, a pair of
scissors, a pad of paper, and her ‘baon’. The school is just near their house, so they just walked going there.

“This is your school, Mara. I hope you will like it,” Mother said when they arrived at the school.

“We’re here already? It didn’t take us long to get here!” Mara said.

“Come, let’s go to your classroom, that one over there,” Mother told Mara, pointing to ma yellow classroom.

“Good morning, Mother,” greeted Teacher Nita.

“Good morning, too, Teacher,” Mother replied.

“Good morning, Mara. I’m Teacher Nita Cruz. I will be your teacher in Kindergarten,” Teacher Nita said.

“Good morning, too, Teacher Nita,” greeted Mara shyly.

Teacher Nita, then, led Mara to her seat.

Mara began to make friends with her classmates. Her seatmate was Mina. Behind her was Ben; in front was Dana. She had
other classmates.

In school, Mara and her classmates had fun that day. They made friends with one another. They sang a song that Teacher Nita
taught them. They draw lines, shapes and colored them. They also played inside the classroom. They also walked around the school.

Mara was very happy. She looked forward to go to school the next day.
