Lesson Idea
☐ Teacher-directed: There is no student voice and choice in the activities. Students are guided by the
teacher's direction and expectations.
X Student-Led: Students are given voice and choice in the activities. They may select the topic for
presentation and/or determine the tool they will use to meet the learning goal. Products of
learning will be uniquely designed. Teacher simply facilitates the learning in a lesson like this.
X Project-based and/or Publishable: Students are completing projects to demonstrate their learning
and the projects can be shared outside of the classroom. This objective could be reached by
displaying the project on the school’s morning newscast, posting the project to the classroom
blog, presenting it to another class, or publishing it via an outside source.
with an example to follow as they complete it. This lesson will be in the later months of
fourth grade, so students should use their previous knowledge of creating a PowerPoint to
start creating the pages of their book. As the teacher, I will be available for students if they
have any questions or need assistance in creating their e-Book. At the end of the lesson,
students can show their other classmates their e-Book and this will give them an opportunity
to show their creative side in the classroom.
Managing engagement: Describe a way to use this technology in a way that gets students
actively involved in authentic tasks and contexts?
Students will engage by using the computer to create their e-Book, this will be an in-class
assignment so students can have the whole class period to do further research on the
content topic and complete it, and the next class is where students can share their e-Book
with the other students and the teacher.
