Subject: Science

Content Standard: The learners demonstrate understanding of the different types of


mixtures.
Performance Standard: The learners should be able to prepare beneficial and useful
mixtures, Such as drinks, food, and herbal medicines.
Most Essential Learning Competency: The learners should be able to describe the
appearance and uses of uniform and non-uniform mixtures.

At the end of the lesson, the students should be able to:
A. Describe the appearance of solutions
B. Enumerate the uses of solutions
C. Appreciate appearance and uses of solution

B Motivation

The teacher will group the learners into 3. Each group will have to solve the
puzzle that is given to them and describe each photo in front of their classmates.

What properties of matter are there in a juice? Soy sauce and water? Coffee
and sugar?
C Lesson Proper
A solution is a homogeneous mixture. Homogeneous mixture has the same
properties throughout the sample. It means that substance are mixed
thoroughly, after stirring, appeared as one substance. You can no longer
distinguish one component from the other.
There are 5 types of solutions.
• Solid in liquid
• Liquid in liquid
• Gas in liquid
• Gas in gas
• Solid in solid
D Activity
The teacher will group the learners into 3 groups. Each group will be given
different substance for the experiment and follow the direction of the teacher.
Direction:
1. Half fill the cup with tap water
2. Add teaspoon of the provided substance per group. Stir well.
3. Leave the set-up for about one minute
4. Observe what happened. (write on the table)
