Organization and Management (AOM)

I. OBJECTIVES
a. Content Standard: The learners demonstrate an understanding of the role of business in the
environment affects the firm.
b. Performance Standard: The learner shall be able to analyze the various environmental forces
affecting the firm and summarize these using political economical social and technological
analysis (PEST) and strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats (SWOT) Analysis
frameworks.
c. Most Essential Learning Competency: The learners analyze various forces/elements influencing
local and international business environment using PEST and SWOT strategies.
d. Objectives: At the end of the lesson, the learners will be able to identify various forces/elements
of the firm’s environment.

-managerial skills is a various skill that managers must posses such as conceptual,
human and technical skills.

Manager is an individual engaged in management activities such as supervising,
sustaining, upholding and assuring responsibilities for the work of others in his/her work
group, team, department on the organization in general.
Managerial Roles- the various roles played by managers such as interpersonal,
informational and decision-making roles.
Managerial skills- the various skills that managers must posses such as conceptual,
human and technical skills.
3 LEVELS OF MANAGEMENT (Managerial Levels)

1. TOP-LEVEL MANAGERS
-are the general or strategic managers who focus on long-term organizational concerns
and emphasize the organizations stability, development progress and overall efficiency
and effectiveness.

2. MIDDLE LEVEL MANAGERS


- are the tactical managers in change of the organization middle levels or departments.

3. LOWER-LEVEL MANAGERS
- also known as operational manager and are responsible for supervising the organization
day-to-day activities.

Management may be classified as:


1. Conceptual skills- enable managers to think of possible solutions to complex problem.
2. Human skills- enable managers in all level to relate well with people.
3. Technical skills- it is important for managers for them to perform their task with proficiency with the
use of their expertise.

F. Application
 Enumerate the 3 classifications of managerial roles suggested by Mintzberg. Are they
equal in importance? Explain your answer.

G. Evaluation:
