The teacher point how logarithms is useful as a calculation tool which reduced
the amount of time needed to multiply large numbers.

The teacher will show pictures/images.

What can you notice on the pictures/images?

-They are spiral.

The teacher will give a brief discussion of spiral logarithm. (Application of

logarithm in nature.)

After going through this lesson, you are expected to:

Represents real-life situations using logarithmic functions and

solves logarithmic equations.

#1 What did you notice on the arrangement of the numbers from exponential
form to logarithmic form?

Definition of Logarithmic Function

- Let a, b and c be positive real numbers such that b ≠ 1. The logarithm
of a with base b is denoted by log b a , and is defined as
c=log b a if and only if a=b c

Reminders:
1. In both, the logarithmic and exponential forms, b is the base. In the
exponential form, c is an exponent; this implies that the logarithm is
actually an exponent. Hence, logarithmic and exponential functions
are inverses.
2. In the logarithmic form log b x , x cannot be negative
3. The value of log b x can be negative.

Proper way of reading logarithmic equation

Read as , log to the base b of a is equal to x

*The students will read the logarithmic form of their recent activity.

Using the Converting Exponential-Logarithmic Foldable Sheet, the teacher

will give examples and let the learners answer it on their own.
Example 1: 53=125
−3 1
Example 2: 7 =
343
2
Example 3: (−2) =4

Answer Key:
Example 1 : log 5 125=3
1
Example 2 : log 7 =−3
343
Example 3: cannot be written in logarithmic form because base must be
greater than 0 but not equal to 1. (base is -2)
E. Discussing new Evaluate the value of Logarithm
concepts and
practicing new skills Find the value of the following logarithmic expressions.
#2
(a)log 2 32=¿ x
(b) log 9 729= x
(c) log 7 1= x
(d) log 5 ( )1
1 25
=x

(e) log 5 5=¿ x

Clue: Rewrite the logarithmic equation in exponential form. Then solve
for the value.
Solution:
(a) 2 x =32; x=5
(b) 9 x =729 ; x=3
(c) 7 x =1; x=0
(d)5 x=( ) 1
125
; x=-3
(e) 5 x =5; x =1
F. Developing Log-War Questions BOYS VS GIRLS VS FREESTYLE
mastery (Leads to Mechanics: The class will be divided into 3 groups ( boys, girls and freestyle).
Formative Each member of the group will solve the task that they will pick. The only
Assessment) time the other member of each group will respond is once the member has
solved the task. The group who will got the highest correct answer will be the
winner.

On July 27, 2022, at 8:43:24 a.m. (PHT), an earthquake struck the island
of Luzon in the Philippines. The earthquake had a magnitude of 7.0 Mw ,
with an epicenter in Abra province. Eleven people were reported dead and
615 were injured.
