Disaster Readiness and Risk Reduction

What’s More:
1) SOCIOECONOMICAL VULNERABILITY
2) PHYSICAL VULNERABILITY
3) ENVIRONMENTAL VULNERABILITY
4) PHYSICAL VULNERABILITY
5) PHYSICAL VULNERABILITY
6) PHYSICAL VULNERABILITY
7) ENVIROMENTAL VULNERABILITY
8) SOCIOECONOMICAL VULNERABILITY
9) SOCIOECONOMICAL VULNERABILITY
10) ENVIRONMETAL VULNERABILITY

What I Have Learned:

1) I am stranded in the place and was unable to get out due to trapped and blocked entrances and exits,
therefore I can’t escape and evacuate from the place. This is under the physical category. The signal is
down and I can’t communicate with my family. I am experiencing a disruption in telecommunication,
thus I was affected socially. There were no enough trees to absorb water due to heavy rains. Due to this,
a flash flood occurs. Thus, I was also experiencing environmental vulnerability.
2) Since I reside in a flood-prone area, therefore physical vulnerability exists. I might be prepared in
terms of the survival kits, however I was not informed about the evacuation are of the community when
such hazards hits. There was no enough connection with me and the local government regarding the
emergency procedures to be done in this kind of situations. This also increased the rate of vulnerability
in the category of social vulnerability. The place is also environmentally vulnerable since it is a flash
flood-prone area. There might be insufficient tree roots to support the place.
3) Due to multiple brittle vases, the family’s properties are physically vulnerable. We were also located
near a fault line, thus we are experiencing earthquakes in the area. We also prioritized the safety of their
vases and portraits instead of our lives. Due to this, we lacked preparation and safety procedures like
duck, cover, and hold. Since we are preoccupied with the properties, we forget to evacuate from the
area and go to the safest place. Since we are located in the Pacific Ring of Fire, earthquakes normally
occur.
4) The house is located far from his work place. Thus, he needs to travel far in order to go to his work.
The vehicles were not able to pass through since there is a flash flood occurring in the roads. These
conditions heighten physical vulnerability. Father wasn’t able to communicate neither with his office
nor with the family. It is because he forgets his phone and even if he borrowed from a person, the signal
was failing. Thus, he is also socially vulnerable. His work place is located in a flash flood prone area.
There might be unavailable trees to absorb flash flood water. Thus he is also experiencing the impacts
of environmental vulnerability.
5) Due to effects of aging, I was experiencing failure in hearing, talking and socializing with other people.
Due to my health conditions, I was physically vulnerable. I was also unable to connect and
communicate with the outside world, even with my family. Therefore, I was also socially vulnerable. I
pandemic existed due to the irresponsibility of human beings. This can also be considered as
environmental vulnerability. Since human are doing practices that destroys the nature and trigger
natural disaster.
