REPORTED SPEECH

Reported speech, tức câu tường thuật (hay còn gọi là câu gián tiếp) được sử dụng để
thuật lại một sự việc hay lời nói của ai đó. Nói thẳng ra sử dụng câu tường thuật là bạn
đang chuyển câu trực tiếp sang câu gián tiếp.
Kiểu như là vầy nè:
 She told me to bring my clothes inside.
(Cô ấy bảo tôi cất quần áo vào nhà.)
 He said he wouldn’t attend the party because he was busy.
(Anh ấy nói rằng anh ấy sẽ không tham gia bữa tiệc vì anh ấy bận.)
 They told me they would come cut down the tree in front of my house.
(Họ nói với tôi rằng họ sẽ chặt cây trước nhà tôi.)

Nhớ giùm tôi cái cấu trúc này nha! 

S + say/said/tell/told + (that) + S + V
❖ Cách xài nè:
Bước 1: Chọn động từ giới thiệu. Ý là mấy cái Say → Said với cả Tell → Told, Ask →
Asked này nọ lọ chai.
Các động từ giới thiệu trong câu tường thuật thường được chia ở thì quá khứ. Nhớ giùm
là QUÁ KHỨ ạ!

❖ Lưu ý:
 Làm ơn, đừng lùi thì với các từ: ought to, should, would, could, might. Nó không còn
cái gì để bạn lùi nữa đâu ạ!
 Không lùi thì khi tường thuật về một sự thật hiển nhiên (Vô tri!)
 Không lùi thì khi câu sử dụng động từ tường thuật “say” và “tell” ở thì hiện tại.
Bước 3: Đổi đại từ nhân xưng, đại từ và tính từ sở hữu sao cho phù hợp với ngữ cảnh.
