• Party Committee on ·trike strategy has

recommended to the Party Politburo that the
current strike wave be ended now, so that Communist forces can plan a
• new strike campaign against the higher prices that will result from war
preparations. The Committee believes that. prospects for exploiting
• future strikes for political purposes have now improved, inasmuch as
the Party and the Communist-led General Labor Confederation have re-

- covered some prestige and labor's bargaining position has been strength-
ened.

Comment: This realistic French Communist

• Party decision is in accord with the original preference of some General

- Labor Confederation leaders for strikes of limited duration, which would

not overtax labor's present capabilities; the decision will forward the
Party's future strike efforts.
