Detailed Lesson Plan in (TLE)Computer Hardware Servicing

I. INSTRUCTIONAL OBJECTIVES
At the end of the lesson, the student should be able to:
1. Select components to be measured
2. Illustrate each component in Mensuration and Calculation.
3. Value the importance of knowing Mensuration and Calculation in ICT

II. SUBJECT MATTER

Topic: Perform PC measurements and calculations

Reference: Curriculum guide
Materials: Power point, video presentation, paper

III. PROCEDURE

A. Preparatory Activities

Teacher’s Activity Student’s Activity

1. Prayer

Good morning, Class. (The students will stand)

Good morning, Ma’am

Okay, let’s pray first (The students will stand and pray)
Please lead the prayer
(Calls student)
Let us pray…amen

2. Classroom Management

Before you take your sit, please pick (The students will pick the piece of trash
those pieces of trash under your chairs under their chairs and arrange their chairs)
and arrange your chair after picking the
trash.

Okay, you can take your sit.

3. Checking of Attendance

Secretary, please check the attendance. Yes, Ma’am.

4. Review of the previous lesson

Before we start our new lesson, what is

our last lesson all about? (Student raise their hands)

(Calls a student)
Ma’am, it’s all about Tools and
equipment maintenance
Very Good, so can you give me the
definition of tools?
(Student raise their hands)
(Calls a student)
A tool can be any item that is used to
achieve a goal. Equipment usually
denotes a set of tools that are used to
achieve a specific objective.
Very Good. So, let’s move on to our next
lesson.

Teacher’s Activity Student’s Activity

1. Motivation

Now, before the discussion please watch

my video presentation.

https://youtu.be/y45v5SLjxaM

What is the video all about class? (Students raise their hands)
Okay janith
Ma'am it's all about bit and bytes
Very good

What is bit? It is the smallest unit of data that a

Okay Chrisrian computer can process and store.
Very good
What bytes? It is the unit most computers use to
Okay Alic represent a character such as a letter,
number or typographic symbol.

Very good

Okay now let’s proceed to our activity

Class are you all familiar on how to convert Yes ma'am

specific units?

I will group the class into 3 and give them a

flashcard which will they going to convert (Student listen attentively)
and explain how did they convert it.
Group 1 is presenting
Group 2 is presenting
Group 3 presenting

Very challenge ma’am because it’s more on

solving.
Very good congratulations to all of you.
Okay what did you observed the activity?

2. Presentation

https://youtu.be/y4Thohbubnrn

I will show you my video presentation on

how to solve binary to decimal and decimal
to binary.

3. Analysis / Discussion (Students listening carefully)

Now let's start our discussion

Are you ready to listen?

Okay good.

These are binary digits, or bits for short. Yes ma’am

Single bits are too small to be much use, so
they are grouped together into units of 8
bits. Each 8-bit unit is called a byte. A byte
is the basic unit which is passed around the
computer, often in groups.
Bits are usually assembled into a group of
eight to form a byte. A byte contains
enough information to store a single ASCII
character, like "h". A kilobyte (KB) is
1,024 bytes, not one thousand bytes as (Students listening attentively)
might be expected, because computers use
binary (base two) math, instead of a
decimal (base ten) system.

The state is represented by a single binary

value, usually a 0 or 1.
One byte is equivalent to eight bits.

CONVERT DECIMAL NUMBERS TO

BINARY

To convert a decimal number to binary, all

you have to do is divide the number by 2.
Get the quotient and the remainder. Bring
down the quotient, divide it by 2, and get
the quotient and remainder again. Do it
repeatedly until the quotient results to 0.
Copy the remainder from bottom to top,
and that is the binary equivalent.

Example: Convert 17410 to binary.

Solution: For decimal to binary conversion,

let us first divide the given number by 2
and note down the remainders as shown in
the following table.

Division by Quotient Remainder

2
174 ÷ 2 87 0 (LSB)

CONVERT BINARY TO DECIMAL

Convert the binary number 10100011 to

decimal.

Given binary number is 10100011.

Using the conversion formula,
10100011 = (1 × 27) + (0 × 26) + (1 × 25)
+ (0 × 24) + (0 × 23) + (0 × 22) + (1 × 21)
+ (1 × 20)
= 128 + 0 + 32 + 0 + 0 + 0 + 2 + 1.
= 163.
Therefore, binary number 10100011 = 163
decimal number.

4. Application

We have an activity I have a ball here when

I play the music, you’ll start move the ball
and when I stop the music and you’re the
one who hold the ball you’ll answer the
questions.

Did you get me class? Yes ma’am

The start moving and students answering Student answering and energetic answering
and doing the activity.
How’s your feeling class?
The activity ma’am is very exciting
C. GENERALIZATION

Okay do you have any question regarding

our discussion? No ma'am

Are you sure?

Yes ma'am
Okay, it seems you all really understand
who can answer on the board?
Marco answering on the board
