Prior Knowledge:
A. Draw and identify the different quadrilaterals that can
Presentation
be formed using the different set of lines inside the box.
Draw your answer on the box. Write your answer in your Math Book
answer sheet.
B. Connect the triangle in Column B that can be
formed when the quadrilaterals in Column A are divided into
2 parts.

Review/Drill:
A. Directions: Arrange the jumbled letters to identify the
different kinds of triangles.

1. GRHIT AGILTREN- has a right angle which measure is 90°

2. TSEBOU TRENAGIL- has an obtuse angle, which
measures more than 90°
3. TUECA GREATINL- has a 3 acute angles and measures
less than 90°
4. LANECES NETRAGIL- has no equal sides
5. SOSILESEC LIGARTEN- has 2 equal sides

B. Directions: Write the kind of quadrilateral that each

object represents. Write your answer in your answer sheet.
Motivation:
The pupils will be ask to sing the “QUADRILATERAL
SONGS”

II. DISCUSSION:

A polygon is a closed figure made up of several line that are

joined together. The line segment is called sides and do not
cross each other. There are exactly two sides that meet at a
point.
A triangle is a polygon with 3 sides and 3 angles.
A quadrilateral is a polygon with 4 sides and 4 angles.
Triangles and quadrilaterals fall under the category of
polygons.

Based on the illustration, when the quadrilateral is cut into

half, a triangle is formed.
Triangle measurement is equal to 180 degrees (180°).
The total measurement of quadrilateral is 360 degrees
(360°).
This falls back to the idea that a triangle is half of a
quadrilateral. The total measurement of a quadrilateral is 360°,
therefore the angle measurement of a triangle is half of the
angle measurement of a quadrilateral.

There are many different types of quadrilaterals but they

all have four sides and the sum of their angles is 360 degrees.
They are connected to one another but they all have different
properties.

Analysis:

Independent Activity 1
Trace the broken lines and identify the kind of quadrilateral is
formed.

Independent Assessment 1
Identify what kind of triangle can be formed if the following
quadrilaterals are divided into two. Check the appropriate
column of the correct answer. Write your answer in your
answer sheet.

Independent Activity 2
Using the illustration below, tell whether the figure labelled by
each letter is a triangle or a quadrilateral. Write your answer
on the space provided in your answer sheet.

Independent Activity 3
Identify the different kinds of quadrilaterals. Circle all the
quadrilaterals that you can find in the pool of letters.

Independent Assessment 3
Read the instruction carefully and write your answer in your
answer sheet.

III. Generalization:

Write the missing words to complete the sentence. Write

your answer in your answer sheet.

A __________________ is a polygon with 4 sides

and 4 angles. It can be classified as a _____________,
______________, _______________, ________________
, and ______________. A _________________ is a
polygon with 3 sides and 3 angles. Triangles and
quadrilaterals are closed figure made of straight lines. Both
triangles and quadrilaterals fall under the category of
polygons. The total measurement of all the angles of a
quadrilateral is ______________. A triangle is equal to
___________, therefore a triangle is half the measurement
of a quadrilateral. If the quadrilateral is divided by two, it
can produce two __________________.

Application:
Direction: Read the following statements carefully. Draw a
triangle ( ) if the statement is true and should be draw a
quadrilateral ( ) if the statement is false.

_____ 1. A quadrilateral can be divided into 2 triangles.

_____ 2. Any 3-sided polygons are called a triangle.
_____ 3. All triangles have equal sides and angles.
_____ 4. All sides of quadrilaterals are equal.
_____ 5. A quadrilateral is a 4-sided polygon

IV. Assessment:

A. Draw the quadrilateral described in each item. Write your

answer in your answer sheet.

_____ 1. It is a parallelogram with 4 equal sides and 4 right

angles.
_____ 2. It is a parallelogram with 4 right angles. Its opposite
sides are equal.
_____ 3. It is a quadrilateral with only one pair of opposite side
that are parallel.
_____ 4. It is a parallelogram having 4 equal sides.
_____ 5. It is a quadrilateral with 2 pairs of parallel sides and
its opposite sides are equal.

B. Write the letter of the correct answer . Write your answer

in your answer sheet.

1. What kind of quadrilateral has a 4 equal sides and 4 right

angles?
a. Parallelogram c. Rectangle
b. Rhombus d. Square
2. Which classification of quadrilateral has only one pair of
opposite sides that are parallel?
a. Rectangle c. Square
b. Rhombus d. Trapezoid
3. Sam made a cut out. She cut a quadrilateral in which
opposite sides are equal and has 4 right angles. What kind
of a quadrilateral did she make?
a.Parallelogram c. Rhombus
b. Rectangle d. Trapezoid
4. How is quadrilateral classified?
a. They are classified according to sides.
b. They are classified according to angles.
c. They are classified according to sides and angles.
d. They are classified according to line segments.
5. Which describes the angles of a parallelogram?
a. It has 4 equal sides.
b. Its 2 equal opposite angles are obtuse and the other 2
equal opposite angles are acute.
c. It has 2 pairs of parallel sides and the opposite sides are
equal.
d. It has 4 right angles with 4 equal sides.

V. Assignment:

Directions: Draw the following quadrilaterals. Divide it into 2

equal parts. Color the other half red and the other half yellow.
1. Square
