Already on the first day at school, Lilichka gained knowledge, and this immediately
became an obstacle for her on the way to further joyful and diligent attendance at
school; namely, Lilichka was convinced of what she suspected earlier: she would not
like to acquire all the knowledge. Some knowledge was, for example, unpleasant,
painful, inconvenient, and some could even lead to parting with one's own property:
so certain knowledge cost the mouse - her favourite plastic brooch, which she wore
on her beret when it was cold and on her collar when it was warm. Because all
Lilichka's hats were berets, all Lilichka's dresses had collars, and Lilichka had to
acquire all knowledge more joyfully, easily and diligently than anyone else.
And this is only the first day, well!
Lilichka was small in height, so the teacher sat her at the first desk, and here
Lilichka's mother and father triumphed for the first time: she had to sit only there, at
the desk for the best. Their ideas did not quite coincide with reality, as Lilichka,
observant and careful, noted in her mind: that the first desks were not for the best, but
for the smallest, and also for the most myopic children.
