How do you
discern dream
from reality?
Background Information
❖ Interested in dreams
❖ Want to play with: editing, color, lighting, angles, makeup on screen
❖ Test what I can do without CGI
❖ To combining everything we have learned from this class and what
I have always wanted to do
❖ These shots that I see in my head and trying to combine them to
see what I can create
Narrative Structure

Opens with a hint of the dream dimension

Is it happening inside her head or in reality?
Dream flashes but overlap with reality more and more
Gets more haggard
Wakes up in strange places
Leave ending (and entire film) open to interpretation
Style approach
Testing shots, colors, sequences, Jump cuts
montage
Style of colors
Quick cuts
Close ups
Slow and fast motion
Minimal dialogue
Flickers
Using silence and
Transitions
music to push story
Philosophy
About the film: To test my theory:

Having the unsettling feeling To see what I can do based on

that something is out of your what I have been wanting to
control with a dissociation do but couldn’t really have
from reality represented so done in the documentaries
that the audience is intrigued
but as unsettled as the
character
Production
❖ Localized to focus on editing for specific shots with color and

lighting

❖ Scene by scene to possibly edit while filming

❖ Will lay out specifically in scriptment so that shots are exact

❖ Need different times of day

❖ Many different takes to get best angles and expressions
