Resistors connected in a series connection :-

Let two resistors of resistances R1 and R2 be connected in series

In series the current flowing through the circuit is constant .
So the same current I ampere's be the passing the ressitors and the circuit
Let V be the voltage in the circuit
and V1 be the voltage in the 1st resistor
and V2 be the voltage in the 2nd resistor

V = V1 + V2 ,

According to Ohm's Law,

V = IR in the whole circuit
where R is the resultant resistance
Similarly, V1 = IR1 at the 1 resistor
V2 = IR2 at the 2 resistor
V = V1 + V2
IR = IR1 + IR2
= I(R1 + R2)
=> R = R1 + R2

The resultant resistance of resistors connected in series is equal to the sum of

individual resistances of the resistors

If three resistors are connected in series, then
