INTRODUCTION

The Ministry of Education, with the intention of facilitating English Language Learning in
Secondary, has created a culture of sustained improvement through different training and
refresher courses for English teachers as part of the National Strategy "Learning English as a
second language. " In this sense, the proposal for the First Training Moment 2022 focuses on
“Planning learning activities with a functional communicative approach”.

Lesson planning is an important activity in the learning process and, even more important, the
communicative activities designed by teachers to establish a real scenario where students-
teachers-students will interact in terms of development of the communication skills. Based on
this approach, it is necessary for teachers to understand the logic of how this heuristic tool
works.

With great optimism, we hope that at the end of the training teachers will develop meaningful
learning to gain a sense of positive value in their abilities and, therefore, incorporate the new
learning into pedagogical practice to promote educational quality.

II. DEVELOPING

This training session is organized around a general theme that will take place over two
consecutive days. For each day, there are four hours duly organized for each theme.

Language Approach”

First day: Análisis reflexivo del planeamiento didáctico.

Activity 1

Reflection as a way of diagnostic.

5. How do set up your anticipatory set in a classroom?

6. How do you relate the cross curricular theme in a lesson plan? What do you usually do?
What kind of activities do you usually do?

7. How do you assess and consolidate the learning at the end of a class? What is one activity
you usually do or simply, what you do?

8. How do you measure your progress toward your goals at the end of a class?

Activity 3, Plenary session

By the analysis of the lesson plan, each group will have a representative to present the
considerations.

Activity 4, The communicative learning strategies Imitation and Drilling

Teachers by watching two educational videos will get some acquaintance and also get
familiar with the communicative strategies Imitation and Drilling.

Activity 5, Assessment on the Communicative learning strategies

In work groups, teachers will make an assessment on the Communicative learning


strategies.

Activity 1, Presentation of the main activity

-Firstly, there will be a presentation of the main activity of the second day of the training,
which basically consists of carrying out practical activities based on what was acquired on the
first day of the training. As example; The PPTs and Activity organization. Example

1. Choose an achievement indicator with its content.

2. Identify and choose a Cross curricular theme for this content.

3. Create a learning activity with these elements defining very well the time of application of
the activity in the lesson plan, example; Initial activity – Development activity – Final activity.

Each one of the learning activities should be supported with the Cross curricular theme
instruction.

4. Create a friendly instrument to carry out the
assessment of the learning activity, example; checklist
or rubric.

Activity 2, Group work organization

-Then, the teachers organized into team work, with the use of an interactive guide in Word,
will write a Learning Activity based on the established premises.

Group work 1 / 7º grade Vocabulary- Introducing and presenting the form and meaning of
vocabulary.

Group work 2 / 8º grade Speaking and listening skill - Pronunciation with Imitation

Group work 3 / 9º grade Speaking and listening skill - Accuracy with Drilling

Group work 4 / 10º grade Reading skill- skimming and scanning

Group work 5 / 11º grade Writing skill- Introducing and developing

Activity 3, Group work

-Then, the teachers organized into work teams, with the previous organization will create a
Learning Activity based on the established premises.

Activity 4, Group presentation


Then, based on what was built in the team work, with support didactic material, digital
resources and / or didactic or pedagogical tools, teachers will have the opportunity to present
what has been built.

Activity 5, Reflection based on what was presented by the team work.

-Then, the training facilitator will provide a space for reflection based on what was presented
by the team works with the purpose of clarifying doubts and concerns, taking all this
accumulation of experiences, opinions and comments to make a summary with their
Considerations in terms of the improvement proposal and inviting teachers to implement what
they have learned to achieve quality in English learning.
