REALIZATION, INSIGHT AND LEARNINGS
How do the values exemplified by the stories affect our actions as Filipino citizens?
Student’s Answer:

As Filipino citizens, we all know how our elders love to tell their stories when
they were younger. The stories they tell usually were about certain events in their
young adulthood or childhood that correlates to the situation we are in right now.
For example, for us who got to experience to have grandparents, we cannot avoid
that our grandparents once told us a story on how they used to struggle in their
childhood life as they claim they were in poverty before. Their stories will basically
affect our spoiled actions to be more grateful about what we have. It has been a
Filipino culture where our elders’ stories affect our mindset even in the slightest
form.

Supporting the first paragraph, values are passed on from generation to

generation. Filipino boomers will pass on their values to the Gen X and the Gen X
will pass their values to the millennials until the values were passed to us. In the
future, our generation will be the one to pass our elders’ values to future
youngsters. As Filipinos, generation doesn’t really matter when it comes to values
because they will eventually get passed onto the next generation.

Concluding this, stories that affect our actions as Filipinos are basically
inherited from our elders with maintaining the Filipino culture being significant.
Inship, obligation, friendship, and religion are some of the main roots of Filipinos.
