Lesson activity
Pre-lesson: Pupils refer to THINK! In textbook page 69. Pupils name 5 famous international sports stars, the
most famous sports star in the country and what is the sport.
Lesson delivery:
1. Teacher explains that pupils are going to read a profile which is a description of someone.
2. Pupils read the description and answer the question in Activity 1 (Where was Usain Bolt born?
When was his first world record).
3. Teacher writes ‘Paragraph 1, Paragraph 2 and Paragraph 3’ on the board. Pupils refer to Activity 2.
4. Pupils write the key phrases used in each paragraph in their exercise books and fill in the blanks
of the KEY PHRASES.
5. Teacher distributes another description of a Malaysian athlete.
6. Pupils sit in groups of four to five pupils.
7. Each group write the key phrases of the description using a mind map.
Post-lesson:
8. Each group presents their work.
