Chapter 2 - Smile

 Action speaks louder than words, and a smile translates that I’m happy to see someone
and it’s also a messenger of my goodwill.
 Real smiling from within will bring the best first impression possible.
 I should start smiling even if I’m not happy because it will make me happy afterward
 If you act as if you were happy that will tend to make you happy
 By regulating the action which is in control of our will, we indirectly redirect the feelings
behind the action which is not.
 Two same people can be happy or unhappy because of their mental attitudes
 Shakespeare said: “There is nothing either good or bad, but thinking makes it so.”
 Thoughts are essential for happiness, so I should adopt boldness, honesty, and good
cheer.

Chapter 3 - Remember and use people’s names

 People’s names set the individual apart and make him unique from a status standpoint.
 People are more interested in their own names than in all other names on earth put
together.
 I should try and remember people’s full names and call them by their first names.
 People’s names are making them feel proud and ensuring they’ll survive for more time.
 That’s why remembering people's names and using them makes them feel important.
 “Good manners are made up of petty sacrifices”
 A person’s name is for them the sweetest sound in any language.

Chapter 4 - Be a good listener

 When you listen to people with your concentrated attention and convey that you’re
genuinely interested in them, they’ll think you’re a great conversationalist and they’ll be
interested in you.
 To be a good listener I should encourage people to talk about themselves and ask them
questions.
 I should let people know that I’m more eager to listen to their complaints about me
than they are to tell me their complaints.
 A good first impression is directly influenced by how well you listen attentively to
people.
 Important people often prefer good listeners rather than good talkers, because it’s a rare
quality to have
 People want someone to listen to them because that’s how they get their feeling of
importance or just want a friend to listen to their burdens.
 People who talk only of themselves think only of themselves and people who think only
of themselves are uneducated.
 People are more interested in themselves and their wants and problems than me and my
wants and problems
