Research Title:

Effectiveness of Banana (Musa Paradisiaca) Peel as an Alternative Floor wax

Conceptual Framework:
Banana peeling floor wax is made of mostly recycled materials that can help the users and
consumers to save money, and it is less harmful to the environment compared to the commercial
floor wax that has many chemicals that is harmful to the environment and also to the ones who is
using it. This study will find out of how banana peelings can be an alternative source in making a
floor wax, how safe is the banana peeling floor wax for the environment and its users, and how
efficient is banana peeling floor wax than common synthetic floor wax.

Theoretical Framework:
Banana peels can be easily found since consumers just usually throw the peels thinking
that banana peels were not usable or does not have value anymore. Moreover, there was
superabundance of bananas in the Philippines which makes our research more suitable and more
significance that can help the improvement of the society's welfare. Aside from its abundance,
Banana peels contain potassium, a chemical element, that can be applied to leather, woods, and
metals that makes a natural polishing agent and can be used to shine the mentioned materials
(Angela G. Alcaraz 2018)

Floor wax is a solution that has been used extensively since centuries for floor care. While there
are still several traditional agents available in the market today, most people prefer manmade
like; beeswax, linseed oil, carnauba wax, rosemary oil, and synthetic floor waxes that are
comparatively easy to apply. Floor wax, when maintained and applied properly floor waxes offer
high shine which is advantageous for both commercial and business spaces. They can be used on
just about any flooring including concrete, ceramic, and vinyl. Floor waxes are sold as finishing
products from XVI thousands of stores around the country and are readily available to anyone
who wants to use them. They take care of high traffic areas and are created to resist scratches and
repel stains and abrasions (TCFC, World of Floors 2019).

Statement of the Problem:
In this study, the researcher will determine the effectiveness of Banana (Musa Paradisiaca)
as an Alternative to Commercial Floor wax. Generally, this investigatory project seeks to see
whether banana peeling can transform into an alternative floor wax.

Specifically, this study seeks to answer the following question:

1. What materials are needed for the product?

2. Is banana an effective floor wax?

3. Would banana peeling be able to be an alternative source in making floor wax?

4. Is there a significant difference on the effectiveness between Banana (Musa Paradisiaca)

peel as an alternative floor wax compared to the commercial floor wax?
