Title of Innovation: MAPEH Siklaban
Classification: Teaching
Category: School Level
School/Office, District, Division: Tario Lim National Memorial High School
Inclusive Date of Implementation: Every End of The Quarter

OVERVIEW
The percentage of performance output/activities in the grading system of MAPEH subject is 70%. If
we are going to look at the number there is a greater possibility for the students to have a failing grade if
failed to perform any of the performance output or activities given by the subject teacher. Our learners are
composed of slow, average and fast learners. It is good for those who can grasps the activity and the
lesson well, but for those slow learners, for sure they will be left behind. The innovators found a problem
with regards to this matter. Only half of the students in a class can pass or perform the performance output
or activities on time, and half of the class failed to pass/perform on time. One of the many reasons for this is
lack of preparation, laziness and loss of interests. As a MAPEH Teacher, the innovators plan activities,
outputs, and projects for students that would enhance and show their understanding, comprehension, skills,
and talents in the different components of the subject. One way to gauge if the students understood the
lesson taught is through the different activities and outputs they are asked to do after the discussion. Often
this would integrate drawings and illustrations aside from the actual performances and group presentations.
The innovators observed that there are students who do not show much enthusiasm in coming up with the
presentations and actual performances in any of the four components of MAPEH. The intention is to simply
pass the minimum is very obvious among these learners. It was also observed that the submitted output
were done in haste. May it be a musical performance, a dance, art output, essay in health, or even a
sports-related activity, these learners do not intent to get a good grade.
Students from when they were very small, toddlers to be exact, already manifest talents innate in
them or that they inherited from their equally talented parents. If they are inclined with music, arts, dance
and etc. they would find ways to nurture that. The innovators also observed that most of the students love
to dance, sing and draw. In this innovation students may find it interesting to join and show what they’ve
got. They will be amazed of the different activities that will be given to them and find themselves
participating. They will be also surprise and discover their inner self and talent.
In line with the DepEd advocacy that “No Children Will Be Left Behind” and Mantra “Every Child is a
Champion” this innovation will encourage students to participate actively with a heart. They will love what
they are doing and if that love was awaken, they will succeed as a student and become a champion in their
own way.

INNOVATION DESCRIPTION
The MAPEH Siklaban was derived from the subject itself, Music, Arts, Physical Education (P.E.) and
Health added with the word “Siklaban” which means “to battle out with a great performance”. This event
was created to showcase the expected outcomes among learners of the MAPEH Subject every end of the
quarter. Each group of students will be given a category on what to perform guided by the subject teacher.
The purpose of this innovation is to showcase the talents and passion in arts and celebrate the diversity of
learners and culture through performance arts. Performance of the student will be rated using rubrics.
This will give justice to the advocacy of the DepEd that “NO CHILDREN WILL BE LEFT BEHIND”.
GOAL STATEMENT
The following are the specific objectives of the program
1. Establish a positive perspective towards performance art in the school.
2. Promote the importance of performing art skill among learners.
3. Strengthen/boost the confidence among learners through interactive activities.
4. Raise the percentage of the passing grades to 100%.
The four objectives stated above was to complement to the DepEd’s goal “No Failing Grades”, and
Regional Mantra “Where Every Child is a Champion”.

IMPLEMENTATION PROCEDURE

A. Conceptualization Activities
MAPEH Siklaban was conceptualized after the innovator identified the root cause of low performance
activity and non performing learners. The data that was used by the innovator was based on the E Class
Record academic performances within the grading period.

MAPEH Siklaban is an event/activity that will arouse the interest of the learners to show what they’ve
got, likewise it will encourage them to participate actively.

B. Process Flow/ Framework

MAPEH Siklaban will be done at the end of the grading period to complement for the lacking/low
performance activities of the learners. It will also serve as the intervention for the subject.
C. Project Management
This innovation will be utilized by the Grade 7 learners, it can also be adopted by Grade 8 to 12
learners provided that this innovation will be facilitated by the Innovator itself who at the same time is
the subject teacher. Materials and equipment will be given to the students as early as possible so that
they will have ample time to prepare and practice. The subject teacher will allot 15 minutes time for the
practice. Each class will choose a performer, a leader/choreographer, and a costume designer. Awards
will be given to the best class performer in the Grade level.
D. Timeline
Pre-implementation Stage

The innovators will prepare the necessary materials 1 week before the event/activity.

Implementation Stage

The innovation will be implemented at the end of the grading period after the quarterly exams
starting the third quarter up to the 4th quarter of the school year 2022-2023.

Post Implementation Stage

At the end of the implementation stage, the innovator will determine the result of the activities given
and find that its worth it because all the learners have participated thus contributes to the passing grades
and compare it to the results when this innovation was not implemented.

E. Resource Utilization

The innovators will utilize the resources from books, YouTube, TikTok and etc.
Production of the printed materials must be charged to the MOOE of the School, available materials in
the locality and donations from our stakeholders.
F. Risks and Issues Management

The following are the identified risks in the implementation of this Innovation:
a. Health Risks – the innovators, teachers, and learners must follow the health protocol to avoid the
spread of Covid-19 virus since there is still an existing cases in the municipality.
b. Students’ safety – the safety of the learners is the top priority of this event sometimes they cannot
avoid to have their practice outside the campus. Learners must have their practice only with the
presence of the teacher or any volunteer to guide them.
c. Cost of Materials – nowadays all materials are expensive, aside from the school MOOE, the
innovators must be resourceful and find ways to look for a donation inside and outside the school
campus including the stakeholders.
d. Cooperation – learners, innovators and teachers involve in the implementation must cooperate for
the success of the event.
e. Class Schedule – sometimes because of unforeseen activities or situations the schedule for
practice may be interrupted. Every Friday will serve as a regular schedule for practice aside from
the 15 minutes allotted time during the class hours in the MAPEH subject alone.
