2. The Department of Agriculture obtained the following data representing the one week
growth in centimeters of 24 newly planted corn plants:
Obtain the mean, median and mode. Suppose the data were grouped and we obtain the
mean, median and mode from the grouped data, explain the differences in the values
between the ungrouped and grouped data.

B. ) MEDIAN
C. ) MODE
Mode represents the number of observations in a data set that is occurring most of the
time. As shown in above table, 3.9 is occurring 5 times in the data set. This mean mode is
3.9 in case of given data set.
UNGROUPED DATA:
MODE = 4.1
Conclusion/s:
Based from the grouped data, there are 7 newly planted corn plants that grew about
0.8 to 1.8 cm after a week;
On the second grouped data, it is shown that there are 5 newly planted corn plants that
grew about 2.2 to 2.4 cm after a week;
While people can see from the third grouped data that the 8 newly planted corn plant
grew about 3.1 to 4.0 cm each within 7 days;
Last grouped data reflects about 4 newly planted corn plants grew between 4.1 to 4.9
cm each after one week. In connection, taking a look in ungrouped data, it is difficult to
identify how many newly planted corn plants have grown to a fixed range of
centimeters compared to class intervals shown in the grouped data.
