5.ABSTRACTION

What is Health Resources?

Health Resources refer to manpower, medicines, equipment, facilities,


funds and all other materials and supplies that can be used to provide
health care and services.

School Health Program

• Medical Services- aim to promote, protect, and maintain the


health status of the pupils and the school personnel.
• Dental Services-attend to the prevention, early detection,
prompt treatment of dental diseases, and promotion of dental
health.
• Guidance Counselor-assist students regarding mental health
and wellness. Attends to conflicts and issues concerning pupil
behavior and attitude.
• Nursing Services-focus on the promotion of health and
wellness of the pupils and the school personnel.
• Health and P. E teacher-teaches health and wellness concepts
and self-management skills. Trained to give basic health
services like fitness, first aid, and preventive education.
• Canteen Personnel-follow strict health and sanitation
procedures like proper food handling, preparation and serving.
• Waste Management Officer-plans the schools waste
management system from collection, segration,
recycling,reduction,reuse and disposal.

What is Health Facilities?

Health Facilities-are places that provide health care such as hospitals,


clinics, outpatient care centers and specialized care centers.

• School Clinic- is a facility within the school where basic


medical care and first aid treatment is provided for teachers,
students, and school personnel and if necessary, refers them to
a specialist.
• Municipal or Barangay Health Center-is a public health center
where services are regulated by the government.
• Hospital- is a health care institution providing patient treatment
with specialized health science and auxiliary healthcare staff
and medical equipment.

“Class, Group yourselves in to 2 groups. I will give each group a


cardboard and different related words about health program and health
facilities. Classify the different words and paste it to your cardboard. The
group that gets the highest correct answer will be the winner. You have 5
minutes to do your activity.”
