These steps should be done across the week. Spread out the activities appropriately so that students well learn well. Always be guided by demonstration of
learning by the students which you can infer from formative assessment activities. Sustain learning systematized by providing students with multiple ways to

Okay, Very Good class.
So, our topic for today is all about nervous system and the negative feedback mechanism of
homeostasis.
Activity2:
System consists of the brain and the spinal cord. It coordinates activities across the body. What is
this?
Student answers:
Central Nervous System (CNS)

The system carries information to and from central nervous system. What is this?
Student answers:
Peripheral Nervous system (PNS)

The system is the part of the peripheral nervous system that helps with the voluntary control of body
movements. What is this?
Student answers:
Somatic Nervous System (SNS)

It is the part of the

peripheral nervous
system that help us do
things we do
automatically.

 Something about (sense of touch)
But before that let’s have watch the video of Negative Feedback Mechanism.

Question
What is your body’s reaction to being very hot? Cold?
Student answer:

Why is negative
feedback often aasociated with maintaining homeotasis?
Student answer:
Homeostasis is generally maintained by a negative feedback loop that includes a stimulus, sensor,
control center, and effector. Negative feedback serves to reduce an excessive response and to keep a
variable within the normal range. Negative feedback loops control body temperature and the blood
glucose level.

Nervous System
The nervous system includes the brain, spinal cord, and a complex network of nerves. This system
sends messages back and forth between the brain and the body. The brain is what controls all the
body's functions. The spinal cord runs from the brain down through the back.
Homeostasis
Is any self-regulating process by which an organism tends to maintain stability while adjusting to
conditions that are best for its survival. If homeostasis is successful, life continues; if it's
unsuccessful, it results in a disaster or death of the organism.
Central Nervous system.
 Receives and process all of the information from all parts of the body
E. Discussing new  Controls the entire organ system of the body
concepts and  Major parts: brain and spinal cord
practicing new skills Peripheral Nervous system
#2 (Explore) The peripheral nervous system is divided into two main parts:
 Autonomic nervous system (ANS): Controls involuntary bodily functions and regulates
glands.
 Somatic nervous system (SNS): Controls muscle movement and relays information from
ears, eyes and skin to the central nervous system.

Negative Feedback mechanism

 A control system to reduce or minimize any internal or external change of the body.
 Regulates homeostasis
 Deviation from set point or normal value.
 Set point refers to the ideal requirement of the body to maintain hemostasis.
Pair Activity.
After you watch the video we have a group activity.
In pairs, students will create a cartoon that shows an example of negative feedback.

(Elaborate) Homeostasis is any self-regulating process by which an organism tends to maintain stability
while adjusting to conditions that are best for its survival. If homeostasis is successful, life
continues; if it's unsuccessful, it results in a disaster or death of the organism.

Cases, Set A Read through each case. Fill in the blanks/spaces below based on the content of the
cases.
Case # 1 Your stomach starts rumbling during your Anatomy and Physiology lecture. As soon as
class is over, you decide to hit the snack area. You see your favorite candy bar in one of the snack
machines and you cannot resist. Your blood glucose level before eating this snack is 90mg/100ml
(normal). As you digest and then absorb the sugar in the candy, the level of glucose in your blood
H. Making increases to 120mg/100ml. The increased level of glucose is detected by receptors on pancreatic beta
generalizations and cells. These receptors send a signal into the beta cells, informing them of the excessive glucose in the
abstractions about blood. The pancreatic beta cells release insulin. The insulin travels through the blood and stimulates
the lesson the liver and body cells. The liver and body cells remove the extra glucose from the blood, reducing
(Elaborate) your blood glucose back to its original level of 90mg/100ml. At this point, release of insulin stops.
