The story is that during the Mexican
Revolution, there were a lot of protests that
were made by all kinds of people including
farmers, the military, women homeworkers,
etc. This bunch of people were referred to
as la bola. La bola usually means ball but in
this case, it’s a large crowd of people or mob
that wanted to end the dictatorship of Porfirio
Diaz. When there was destruction or chaos in
the protests, people simply said that the guilty
ones were “la bola”. So now it is used to say
“don’t look at me, it wasn’t me”.

Dear pearlies,
I miss you, where have you been? The air is
getting softer, people start opening up before
the blossoms do. I wish I could find a pearl in
an oyster. What a two-for-one. I once got 8/10
double yolks in a carton of eggs. The smallest
